There’s really only one company worth considering for an Ender 3 and Ender 5 extension – Ender Extender.Starting with the usual test prints, 3DBenchy, and other test models, they all rattled off the build plate at speed. The printer's solid build minimizes shake and vibration, which is apparent in the quality of the prints. The model's overall appearance at all default settings is excellent and shows a fine filament extrusion. At the finer layer heights, the layers are visible but show how good this printer is. Eventually I did some upgrades such as building my own enclosure, adding a capricorn bowden tube, and all metal extruder. It has drastically improved my PETG prints once I got my E-steps dialed in. As 3D printers go, few machines are quite as well suited to upgrades and modifications as the Ender series. Flashing your printer firmware is pretty easy once you go through the installation steps one or two times. We’ve simplified the firmware setup as much as possible so you don’t have to be an expert with code. Our firmware allows you to get more control over your printer, make repairs easier, add on upgrades, and really get into tuning your machine to make it print better. Our firmware does NOT use Marlin Auto Build. Do not use Marlin Auto Build with our firmware. Use the directions below instead. Over to the Ender 5 and we have a much more streamlined experience. It arrives semi-assembled and only requires a handful of steps and some light screw work to complete. The manual is clear and concise, allowing you to complete the build in a swift half hour. Much like it did with the jump from the Ender 3 to the Ender 3 Pro, Creality took the core experience and feature-set of the Ender 5 and injected several choice upgrades to create the Ender 5 Pro. This printer is very much a souped-up replacement for the original, with only a slight premium tagged on. Once you locate the .bin file for your board copy this to your SD card. This SD card MUST be formatted with FAT or FAT32 file system and most boards prefer a 4096 allocation byte size. Smaller cards (16GB or less) are better to use than larger ones for the best compatibility. If you have multiple .bin files listed, choose the one with the latest time & date on it. We also have to mention the recently launched Ender 3 Neo, the tenth printer to join the Ender 3 line-up.The 10cm Cali Dragon was printed in PETG and it came out great. Good overhangs, consistent extrusion, and a tiny bit of stringing caused by the filament being a bit too old. But I am happy with the results. Creality seems to be capitalizing on the 3D print community’s obsession with speed, and may be overselling the Ender 5 S1’s capabilities a bit. It’s not as fast as the AnkerMake M5, which truly runs at 250 mm/s as is our favorite fastest printer. But this machine can reliably hit 150 mm/s and can certainly run circles around an Ender 3 S1. It’s definitely The Creality Ender 5 S1 comes with a copy of Creality Slicer 4.8.2. This is a custom version of Cura and includes profiles for every printer Creality has ever made. You could use Cura or PrusaSlicer if you like, but as there’s no default profiles available for 3rd party slicers you’ll have to modify the profile for the older Ender 5 Pro.
