About this deal

I read an awful lot of children’s poetry and am a big fan of poets like Dom Conlon, Sue Hardy-Dawson, Julie Ann Douglas, Neal Zetter, Joshua Seigal, Brian Moses, Liz Brownlee, Debra Bertulis, Matt Goodfellow, Kate Wakeling, Alex Wharton…the list goes on!

She's always fearful of what others' perception of me is going to be and how it's going to positively or negatively affect me," he adds. Now if you have any questions or if you just want to let us now how it turned out drop us a line anytime.I personally will not shoot someone in my Glitterboy makeup unless they're a young black man or a young man of color," he explains.

The language is simple and powerful and the story is full of James notes and poems that are really moving and great. I had no idea where the characters were going to take me and was shocked when I wrote Chapter 10 and *that moment*. It’s got loads of brilliant information about famous LGBTQ+ people throughout history, such as the activist Marsha P Johnson, and there’s even a quiz at the end! This is the age range where so often complicated desires, early crushes, romantic attachments are being felt but are not always understood. Likewise, whether the Glitter Boys were the armor of the Neemans or a gift created by them and given to human champions to carry on in their footsteps is also a mystery lost to myth and legend.Surprisingly, of all the technology that goes into the special ammunition and the gun, the simplest is how the sequential release of the 200 flechettes is achieved. A more heavily armored version of the Mark III, armed with a heavy Particle Beam Cannon and a light laser to defend itself while the cannon recharges. If you want to try and kill two birds with one stone, wedge that fusion block between the boom gun and the helmet of the shiny bastard. Despite his struggles, James shows the readers that if you ignore bullying, it doesn't necessarily go away, and you need to open up to others for help. In many ways, it felt like I was reading the story of my childhood (I just didn’t have as much courage and strength as James did - though I did have Mariah).

I loved James, he was so full of fun and kindness that it was hard to see him experience this but it was written so sensitively and beautifully that it was lovely to read even though it broke my heart a few times. Although I’m not really a Mariah fan, it feels right to end on that I’m ‘Obsessed’ with this book and Ian Eagleton you are my ‘Hero’. A Note from Ian Eagleton’ tells the author’s story and provides a useful frame for thinking about Jamie and his story. At its heart, it’s a story about self-expression, acceptance, and the importance of being true to oneself.

After writing well received picture books, Glitter Boy, is author Ian Eagleton’s first middle-grade novel. But James’ father seems very uncomfortable about the plan, and a lot of other things – like any mention of Mr Hamilton, and James’ dancing, and the way James talks about his new friend Joel.
