About this deal

I always refer to this book when dealing with certain issues and have been a big fan of his vlog series on MobilityWOD.

Starrett is the kind of guy that would be focusing on creating external rotation, creating torque and screwing his hands into the bed when he makes love. It is a factor of the mobility of joints, motor-control, nerves, connective muscle-tissue (fascia) and even skin. Improve your athletic performance, extend your athletic career, treat body stiffness and achy joints, and rehabilitate injuries - all without having to seek out a coach, doctor, chiropractor, physical therapist or masseur.

They support an incredible range of plants and animals, as well as millions of people and their communities, and play a critical role in fighting climate change. Author invents words for movements and stretches that are well-known and places them in 'his' system. Completely changed the way I viewed motion, and has done the most in furthering my understanding of the human body in terms of its functionality.

Want to learn how to apply those principles to specific movements, whether you are doing squats in the gym or picking up a bag of groceries? This is an awesome book on mobility work: from correct form to a progression of movements and techniques to remedy reduced mobility in all the joints. The book divides a list of 26 exercises, many of which we are familiar with in Calisthenics, into 3 categories. This point of view is distinctly different and separate from the sentence: I like to stand the right way.Better posture: Optimal movement and mobility can help you maintain good posture, which is essential for preventing back pain and other types of postural dysfunction. The most important phase in turning into a flexible panther is to evaluate your ongoing development and versatility. Second, given the huge number of videos he's posted in the past, there's probably very little here that you can't get by watching all the videos for free.

It's clear that Starrett knows his physiology, and he gave me many ideas for my training, but the enthusiastic Californian attitude is not my cup of tea. The system is pretty intuitive, but I wouldn't have had any complaints if the movements were just put on one big heap. It’s not merely a collection of exercises or a succinct program an enthusiastic but ultimately hobbyist can follow. I bookmarked that section so I can refer to it as I assimilate his vernacular and try out his MWODs. The text itself is very readable and, to put some counterweight to our earlier claims of it being a textbook, is read from a more practical perspective.

Overall, after reading this book, I have gained sufficient knowledge to be able to pay more attention to my body and attempt to fix things I see or feel are off. Improve your athletic performance, extend your athletic career, treat stiffness and achy joints, and prevent and rehabilitate injuries—all without having to seek out a coach, doctor, chiropractor, physical therapist, or masseur. Examples would be a coach who does not know beforehand the state of mobility of a new apprentice, or a therapist who can’t know what the treatment plan of their next patient is going to be without diagnosis. There is potential in the premise behind this book, but it comes off as just more CrossFit circle-jerking for people who are, like, "professional athletes".
