About this deal

Eva-Dry’s electric models are covered by a 1-year warranty, but like most electric products it depends on the preventative maintenance as to how long they will last. To put this type of square footage in perspective imagine two different rooms, one that’s 333 square feet and another that’s 500 square feet. Our example 333 square foot space is 33 feet long and 11 feet wide. Our example 500 square foot space is 25 feet long and 20 feet wide. These are sizable spaces. As we discussed above, Eva-Dry recommends the E-333 and E-500 for small spaces such as closets, pantries, small bathrooms, etc. Do any of these spaces have anywhere close to the dimensions of 33 by 11 ft or 25 by 20 ft? The answer is no. Thus even Eva-Dry themselves don’t recommend these products for any type of space with the same dimensions as their specified area of coverage of 333 or 500 square feet. Why then does the manufacturer attach these large overblown square footage numbers to what they themselves call mini dehumidifiers? We compared the Eva-Dry’s Edv-1100 Electric Petite Dehumidifier’s performance to the Tenergy Sorbi 1000ml Air Dehumidifier with Air Purifying Function model. Both machines are compact but side-by-side, the Tenergy is just about as tall as the Eva-Dry but twice as wide. Eva-Dry’s unit measures just 6 x 8 x 5 inches compared to Tenergy’s 8.5 x 7.7 x 12.4 inches.

The design of Eva-Dry’s Petite Dehumidifier is disappointing. While it’s incredibly easy to use and compact enough to hide, it looks dated. It has a white plastic base and a blue collection tank that would have looked futuristic in the 1970s. We thought the “Eva-Dry” branding on the machine cheapened its look. While we do like that the unit is incredibly small, especially with how much area it can cover, we wish the design was simpler and more attractive. On the plus side, since it is so compact, it can easily be hidden and out of sight. In terms of capacity, Eva-Dry covers about 150 square feet and collects a maximum of 16 ounces of moisture, whereas Tenergy Sorbi can cover 200 square feet and collect up to 25 ounces of moisture. When it comes to performance, we think the Tenergy’s ability to both purify and dehumidify the area is unbeatable, although the Eva-Dry also does a good job of dehumidifying the area and does so at a whisper, which is considerably quieter when compared to Tenergy. CORDLESS DEHUMIDIFIER: Moisture out: Cords out! No cables or batteries required. Just charge your device and say bye-bye humidity! Renewable and rechargeable moisture absorber. Lasts up to 4 weeks before recharge. The E-333 is one of two different rechargeable moisture absorbers manufactured by Eva-Dry – the other being the slightly heavier duty E-500. Both units remove moisture from the ambient air by adsorption (adsorption, not absorption, is the technical term for this process). Inside the E-333 and E-500′s outer plastic shell is a silica gel which facilitates this adsorption. Once the silica gel reaches capacity (the point at which its saturated and can no longer remove any more moisture) it changes color from blue to pink. On the outside of the E-333 and E-500 is a small indicator window that shows the color of the silica gel so you’ll know when this happens (when it reaches capacity). When the desiccant (silica gel) reaches capacity you’ll need to recharge the device. This involves plugging it into a wall outlet. The electricity from the wall outlet will heat up the desiccant and liberate moisture from it. This acts to “recharge” the device. The recharge process takes about 8 to 10 hours for the E-333 and 10 to 12 hours for the E-500. Note that since the recharge process involves the liberation of moisture you’ll want to recharge the device outside or in a well ventilated indoor space such as a garage or utility room, not the room or space that you’re trying to dehumidify. Finally, you may be comparing the E-500 to cheaper non-rechargeable disposable desiccant moisture absorbers, the most popular of which are DampRid products. We’ve reviewed two such disposable DampRid products thus far, the FG50T and the FG83LV. Like the E-333 and E-500, they also don’t need to be plugged in to dehumidify. They also use a desiccant chemical agent to remove moisture from the ambient air. Unlike the E-333 and E-500 they’re fully disposable. After their desiccants reach saturation you simply throw them away. You can’t recharge them for continual use and reuse. Why then would you even consider such a product over a device that can be continually recharged for reuse? The average compressor based dehumidifier removes 30 to 70 pints (approximately 500 to 1000+ ounces) of moisture per day. The average thermo-electric dehumidifier removes about 10 ounces of moisture per day. Full size desiccant dehumidifiers remove about 20 pints (approximately 300 ounces) of moisture per day. The E-333 and similar devices should therefore only be used for extremely mild humidity problems in extremely small spaces.

Eva-dry E-500 Rechargeable Dehumidifier 2021 Review Eva-dry E-500 Rechargeable Dehumidifier 2021 Review

Compare the E-333′s moisture removal rate of 4 to 6 ounces per 2 to 4 weeks to that of its primary competitor, the Eva-Dry E-500, which removes 6 to 8 ounces of moisture per 4 to 8 weeks. Thus, the E-500 removes about 50% more moisture than the E-333 but takes 100% as long to do so. So, the E-333 removes less moisture per recharge but removes moisture faster than the E-500. Note that despite the fact that the E-333 removes moisture faster than the E-500, it remove moisture slower than almost every other type of dehumidifier we’ve tested and reviewed. MINI DEHUMIDIFIER GOES A LONG WAY: Super dry dehumidifier unit lasts 20-30 days before recharging the silica gel beads. Absorbing capacity up to 6oz. There are no lights on the unit. The indicator window contains color-changing beads that indicate when the unit needs to be renewed.Yes, when you plug the unit in to dry it out, it will warm up. This is how the unit is renewed. The heat allows the clear silica gel inside the unit to expel the moisture it has absorbed. Make sure to is in a well-ventilated area during renewal and DO NOT cover the unit. View beads in the indicator window of the unit. If the indicator beads are orange, the unit is ready to use. If the indicator beads are green, the unit needs to be renewed. (See step 5) Eva-Dry specifies that this device can work in areas up to 333 square feet, hence the model name for the device which is the subject of this review, the Eva-Dry E-333. The E-333′s manufacturer specified area of coverage is approximately 150 square feet less than the E-500′s manufacturer specified 500 square feet. We disagree with both of these “manufacturer specifications”. 500, even 333 square feet is a sizable area – an area larger than what we believe these devices are capable of dehumidifying.

Eva-dry E-333 Renewable dehumidifier, Pack of 1, White Sand

While the unit is small at 8 inches in height, this is great for portability and placing it discreetly in a space. Another major size-related plus is that it doesn’t require coils or refrigerants like larger units. Yes. The unit absorbs moisture. That moisture is released during the drying process. It is normal for released moisture to appear as small water droplets in the indicator window. SMALL, SLEEK DESIGN: This portable small design lets you hang or conveniently place the dehumidifier anywhere to fight pesky humidity! Cars, closets, boats, cabinets, gun safes, and even gym bags! A very convenient cool gift for everyone! The E-500 should only be used in small damp spaces that may have odors or other signs of humidity (such as mold and mildew). Examples of these types of spaces include kitchen and/or bathroom cabinets, closets, boat cabins, refrigerators, etc. Recall that it doesn’t require electricity to operate (it only requires electricity to be recharged), making it a great option for spaces without easy access to electricity such as car trunks, safes, and the like. Speaking of safes, the E-500 is also a great solution for spaces that aren’t necessarily humid but absolutely need to stay dry. The best example of this type of space is a safe containing valuable documents, jewelry, etc. that aren’t necessarily damp but do absolutely need to be protected from moisture. Final ThoughtsEASY TO USE: This mini dehumidifier is spill and mess free. Just hang and go! Non-toxic, child and pet safe! Your small rooms will be dry and odor free. Works for areas up to 333 cubic feet.
