CR Touch Auto Leveling Before I get into the design and features of the Creality Ender 3 Max Neo 3D Printer there is some assembly required, but not as much as most rectilinear printers with a similar design. Creality includes a basic tool kit with the Max Neo and while at first, I was skeptical of their usefulness, I find myself reaching for these tools time and again.
Ender 3s come partially assembled, with tools and instructions included, making them engaging, easy to understand, and affordable. The Ender 3 range is also open-source, making it easy to upgrade, so you can develop your printer along with your skills.
Basically, it can be accomplished by moving the print head to a corner of the build plate and using an A4 piece of paper to gauge the distance between the nozzle and the plate. Tighten or loosen the leveling knob until there’s a slight resistance between the nozzle and the piece of paper and then repeat for the other three corners. If you want to integrate an SBC for OctoPrint functionality or remote monitoring, then a single-board computer upgrade is a relatively easy one. Though there are other options out there, the Raspberry Pi stands as the optimal choice, offering flexibility at a competitive price. The Max Neo’s first print was pretty impressive, with no defects, tight lines, and consistent print quality. Considering the large bed size, there is still a large area available where the temperature is reasonably uniform and should be sufficient for most prints. However, it is not an optimal print surface for larger 3D prints in materials like ABS. Compared to the Ender 3 Max, the new color screen is a big upgrade. That 3D printer uses an outdated monochrome LCD that only displays limited information. We rarely see those types of screens anymore, with the exception being the Sovol SV06 we covered recently. Other notable features include loops for a pair of LED light bars on the front panel should you fancy the upgrade along with a useful tool pouch on the enclosure’s side.
