The main essence of this cologne is very masculine, mysterious, and sort of dark. But that doesn’t take away from the refreshing, clean feel of the fragrance. In the episode " Hot Girl" of The Office, season 1, episode 6, Michael Scott asks Ryan Howard to help him clean out his car, to impress a saleswoman who has come to the office and Michael insisted on driving home. When cleaning out the car, Ryan finds an empty bottle of perfume, which Michael claims is an exact smell-alike to Drakkar Noir. In the film 10 Things I Hate About You, Kat Stratford (played by Julia Stiles) complains about prom, saying "Do you really wanna get all dressed up, so some Drakkar Noir-wearing dexter with a boner can feel you up while you're forced to listen to a band that, by definition, blows?Already, we can visually see that Drakkar Noir offers a complex scent profile. There were no shortcuts taken with this one. It just feels old school like a fresh bar of soap or shaving cream for men. Drakkar Noir is dark and masculine from the start, yet still remains very clean throughout. Drakkar Noir is French and not Italian, but he has that dramatic, fist-bumping, eyes-to-the-sky quality, just like Dalla's epochal song, today more than ever. We can thank Pierre Wargnye for creating Drakkar Noir. The fragrance was officially launched in 1982 at which point it changed our culture. As one of the first mega-popular men’s fragrances, many subsequent launches would copy it’s scent profile and racy marketing. I will say, that I don’t think it’s all that great in the summer months. The heat isn’t so much the problem, as the humidity, which can wreak havoc on Drakkar’s performance. Owing to its greener, fresher appeal, I feel like Caesars Man has more usability than Drakkar Noir, which was best for the cooler seasons. Some might say that your dad used Drakkar Noir to entice your mom on that infamous first date. Drakkar Noir has legendary status in today’s world. But that doesn’t mean it isn’t a serious scent. Many love this fragrance as a powerful, masculine scent with its old school play. Performance-wise Drakkar Noir is pretty good. The projection of this fragrance is excellent and it lasts for around 6 to 7 hours, sometimes even more.You get all sorts of aromas, starting from the citrus and cool mint to the green, herbal aroma, to the dark leathery, woody sensation. Drakkar Noir was first released in 1982. Like most older fragrances, it’s been reformulated at least once. This review is for the current (2023) formulation.
