About this deal

Idle Animation: There's a standard idle animations like Ash twirling his gun around, but if left in one spot for an extended period of time, the camera would actually zoom in and swing around to face Ash head on, eliciting a "Um.... Hellooooo?" from our hero. Arm Cannon: In the museum, Ash finds a fluid cannon for his stump that coats enemies in gasoline, allowing them to be set on fire with one shot; it gets upgraded into a flamethrower during the colonial era. During the Civil War era, Ash also gets a Gatling gun to strap to his stump. The main problem with the graphics is that they start to blend together, level to level. Many of the areas look the same, and there isn't a lot of differentiation between buildings, streets, etc. In addition, the palette is boring… full of grays and greens that smear together. As Ash, you must use his chainsaw for a hand, as well as the trusty shotgun and pistol, new magic abilities (call down a rain of fire or possess the enemy to do the dirty work for you), plus a host of other weapons (grenades, shovels, etc.) to destroy the dead.

Fans of the movies will get into the game simply because Bruce Campbell's constant dialogue infuses the action with enough personality to separate it from the other action titles. Straight-up action fans might get bored with the game halfway through, but after all, the game costs half as much. Prior to being "acquired" by Ash Williams, the shotgun was owned by Raymond Knowby, who presumably used it for hunting on the property which the Knowby Cabin was located. It is unknown if Raymond bought the gun new or second-hand. This is the second Evil Dead game I know of; the previous, also by THQ, was awful in every way. So awful, in fact, that I only bought this because someone said it was better.Wait until he is walking toward a barrel and gets close to it. Then, shoot the barrel and it will explode, flipping him over. Start shooting him after he flips over. Later in the fight, he will start charging you. When this happens, run along the walls until he runs into one, then start shooting him. In the days leading up to his encounter with Kandar The Destroyer, Ash wore a small clip on his belt containing four extra shotgun shells. Go down it. You will immediately be swarmed by a mob of Deadites. Lure them out into the exhibit room, so you have space to operate, and take them down. In a little nook at the bottom of the ramp is a Save Token. Grab it and head through the arched doorway. Continue through the next chamber, then follow the long set of stairs as it winds down to a banquet room. Move through and make your way to a dirt path that connects to a grand hall. Grab another Save Token at the center of the room. Then move up the curved staircase and step through the dark arched door to face the boss.

Medical bags can be collected at some points, and stored in inventory, to top up your health when necessary. On occasion, deadites will drop a mini health kit, that will give you a small health increase instantly. Mythology Gag: One of Ash's taunts is "Ever read A Farewell to Arms? Well I wrote it", which is reference to a visual gag in Evil Dead 2.Though most deadites end their term in a spray of giblets and dismembered limbs, the combat itself isn't so satisfying. It must be said, history dictated contemporary Evil Dead outings always had their home on the Playstation formats, and this rendition of the game is PS-2 shovel-ware in the first degree, with the only things to remind you you’re not sitting in front of that aforementioned machine are the grooves of your controller, and the obligatory saving to the Box’ hard disk. But all is not lost however, cause’ the game proves itself to be not half bad on its own merits. This fight is pretty easy... if you know what to do. If not, you'll be throwing your controller, scratching your head or whatever it is you do to cope. You begin the fight with a shovel in your hand. That should be your first hint. If you haven’t played the previous Evil Dead game I mentioned earlier, it’s of little consequence, as this game has a self-contained story line, which doesn’t require any extra information. The crux of the game-play here is a mixture of action, adventure and exploration, and some puzzles solving, in dispersed with a fairly good narrative, of which I’ll go into some more detail later.

NOTE: This is not the only possible combination of plugins. There are others that will work (better or worse) for your particular hardware. We provide you with one working set-up so that you may get the game up and running, hassle-free. Testing other emulators/plugins is up to you. Ash himself does look the part, though his face is a single bitmap which doesn’t animate, and this is also true for all in-game character models. Put simply, it’s just a very lazy straight conversion, which is unfortunately so common on the Box’. There's really not much to say about the graphics. They definitely don't come close to pushing the limits of the Xbox hardware. In fact, at times, they look downright bad. The textures are plain and a tad pixilated, the character models are pretty standard (with the exception of Ash, who looks pretty good), and the effects are good, but nothing special. Incredibly Durable Enemies: The enemies in the penultimate level, unless you use the flamethrower on them. Enemy Mine: In The American Civil War era of Dearborn, Ash must convince the two opposing sides to unite their forces against the Deadite threat. Also, the game is infected by that terrible plague called the "save game token", the power-up which will allow you to... save your game. Incredible. At least the damn thing lets you save anywhere you like, but it's still horribly misguided, especially since this game is most fun in half-hour doses. While you’re going about your business, there are hordes of deadites to contend with, who serve to keep you busy while you are figuring out all the connections. Another good thing in the realm of sound is the music. It swells whenever a threat approaches, so the music (as in a horror film) is dynamic and actually helps the experience of the game. The melodies are straight out of a horror film (think frantic), and build the sense of urgency and danger. When you get to the Dearborn police station, the yard where you need to go is surrounded by Deadites. You do not have to kill any of them. First, find the Spell Scroll that allows you to posses a Deadite for a limited amount of time,.This spell takes up three mana. Posses a Deadite, then run to the other side of the yard. You will find the Cypher and a envelope that you must take to the auto body shop. Note: The police Deadites will not recognize you as Ash, but the others will. The name of the television station KLA2 is a reference to Klaatu from The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951).
