About this deal

Whilst not suitable for daily long term use by a tradesperson (someone requiring constant ladder use could do with a traditional solid metal ladder, more suited for heavy duty projects. There are several things to consider before you invest in a telescopic ladder. The first is quality. If a ladder is poorly-made, it’s not going to stay safe for very long. A good ladder is usually made from aluminium alloy, so keep an eye out for that. Sadly, WolfWise does not specify an EN 131 certification, but with so many safety features in place, owners should still be confident of usage. I didn’t feel particularly safe when I fully extended it (I’m a heavy guy), as it flexed much more than my regular ladder.

Based on my 17 years experience of working with access equipment, I don’t think telescopic ladders are suitable for: On windy days. At less than half the weight of a regular ladder, it’s far more likely to blow over in the wind. The shortest telescopic ladders extend to around 2.6m (8.53ft) and the longest models top out around 6.2m (20.35ft). The question is what you want to be able to use your ladder for. Shorter models will be fine for general DIY duties in and around the house, while longer models will be required if you’re hoping to get up to the roof of your home to fix the guttering or replace tiles. Are they safe to use? I looked at hundreds of extension ladders online, and the smallest I could find was a 2metre triple extension; the next size up was a 2.5m triple. This ladder is safe for light commercial use, so is good for tradesmen who require one for the odd job here and there (it shouldn’t be used all day every day for continuous use as a tradesperson ideally).

Why choose 6-metre ladders from Ladders UK Direct?

This ladder also comes with a decent weight limit of 150 kg. Thanks to its corrosion-resistant materials, you can use it outdoors as well as indoors, from washing the windows to changing light bulbs. Any task is a breeze thanks to the variable height settings and an ultimate height of 4.4 meters. I felt that this ladder would be great for surveying purposes and low-level work, such as painting walls up to ceiling height or getting into a loft. triple extension ladder– 3 metres when closed, 7 metres when extended, 230mm depth, 1.2 metres stabiliser bar. New standards for ladder safety have now come into force, but many sub-standard ladders are still sold online and in shops around the UK.

An extremely popular option, the WolfWise has been designed with safety at the fore, with non-slip end caps to keep it firmly in place when in use and a design that prevents trapped fingers. The frame is aluminium, making it strong but also lightweight. This means that you can easily carry the ladder as well as place your full weight on the steps. Indeed, the ladder can take a maximum load of 150 kg.

No room for a full-sized ladder? The best telescopic ladders let you reach new heights without taking up precious storage space

Worhan is a popular German manufacturer of ladders and produces high quality products. This ladder is no exception and is great considering the price. It is suitable for both professional and domestic use making it one of the most robust telescopic ladders available. The rubber feet keeps the ladder stable and protects the flooring inside the home. The ladder can also safely bear up to 150 kg and the rungs are wide and deep to give you a secure place to stand. Once you are done, the ladder can be retracted to a height of 0.8 m and stored on a shelf or under the bed. Does it have any other safety features? It sure does. This ladder also comes with rubber feet for stability, a bottom bar for extra sturdiness and it was also safety certified by EN131 standards. Update 28th April 2023: The product has been recalled from end users by Super Smart Services. Additional information In 2017, Derbyshire Council’s Trading Standards team tested 13 telescopic ladders, and all failed to meet the current standards, with one ladder snapping in half under the test load.
