Overall, we think the smart features are truly smart but also very well executed with the Cradlewise. Everything works reliably and effortlessly, transitions are smooth, and the crib does a great job soothing your baby asleep. You may know the VTech brand better for its noisy, brightly coloured range of toys, but it also sells parenting essentials like this audio baby monitor which is impressively affordable for what it has to offer. Thanks to the use of so-called DECT (which stands for Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications) technology, the parent unit connects securely to the baby unit promising clear sound without interference. While you can manually control the bouncing from the app, it can also be automatically triggered by the crib's smart sensing technology.

The only downfall is that the baby monitor quality isn't quite on par with other models. The quality isn't poor by any means, but it certainly could be better, for both daytime and night vision. Second, you might notice that the camera quality isn't great. These photos were taken during the daytime, and you can see how the nearby window light is saturating the camera and degrading its quality. The night vision is a bit better quality than the daytime vision. We have no major complaints about any of this, everything was still visible in the crib, and we could readily see the important information (movement, position, eyes open/shut, etc.). The mattress is about 38" long, so until your child is over about 36" in height, they will likely be perfectly comfortable in this crib. Quality is also apparent in the consistency of wood color across individual parts, and the reliability and effectiveness of the crib's smart features.
Video baby monitors send signals from a camera to the parent unit via either digital signals or your Wi-Fi network, as long as the two devices are connected to the same network. You might be concerned that a mini crib may not be sufficient for a growing toddler, but most children can use a mini crib until they are 2 years old. This monitor just comes with the camera that connects to your smart device via Wi-Fi and Sense-U’s free app, but other more advanced options are available from the brand including the Baby Monitor 3 that comes with a device that attaches to your baby’s clothes or nappy to monitor their temperature, their movements, and if they’ve rolled over.
