About this deal

Thanos decides to atone for the destruction of Rigel-3, and agrees to aid a colony of Rigellians in evacuating their planet before Galactus can consume it. During the course of this mission Thanos learns Galactus is collecting the Infinity Gems in an effort to end his unyielding hunger. Thanos later learns Galactus is being manipulated into releasing a multiversal threat called Hunger, which feeds on entire universes. Despite opposition from Thanos, Galactus unwittingly frees the entity, and when its intentions are revealed, the pair team up and attempt to destroy it. [41] Silver Surfer once seemingly killed him, only for the end of the issue to reveal that he'd actually killed a member of Nebula's pirate crew who'd been surgically altered to resemble Thanos. Call to Agriculture: Has confessed a certain fondness for the simple life of a farmer, and sometimes indulges in this after his more grandiose schemes unravel. LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 Gets Infinity War DLC". ComingSoon.net. 19 April 2018. Archived from the original on 21 April 2018 . Retrieved 21 April 2018. I went to college between doing U.S. military service and getting work in comics, and there was a psych class and I came up with Thanos, (inspired by Sigmund Freud's concept of human Death drive, or Thanatos), [1] but I'm not sure how he fit into it, just anger management probably. So I came up to Marvel, and editor Roy Thomas asked if I wanted to do an issue of Iron Man. I felt that this may be my only chance ever to do a character, not having the confidence that my career was going to last anything longer than a few weeks. So they got jammed into it. Thanos was a much thinner character and Roy suggested beefing him up, so he's beefed up quite a bit from his original sketches... and later on I liked beefing him up so much that he continued to grow in size. [2]

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the character was first played by Damion Poitier in the film The Avengers (2012) and then by Josh Brolin in Guardians of the Galaxy (2014), Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), Avengers: Endgame (2019), and the first season of the animated series What If...? (2021). You drag me across the stars to tell jokes?! Face me, you coward! I will kill any who oppose me! — Thanos Appearing in "Thanos Wins" In 2021, Thanos was later reintroduced as a primary antagonist in the comic series Eternals vol. 5, #1-12, by the writer Kieron Gillen and artist Esad Ribić, and plays a prominent role in exploring Eternals mythos and retcons. Thanos has appeared in:

Retcon: Because he didn't like what other writers did with Thanos, Jim Starlin has often done this. See Actually a Doombot above. Pet the Dog: Has at least some fondness for his adopted daughter, Gamora. She was a means to an end against the Magus however, and Thanos was perfectly willing to kill her. Depending on the Writer: How he's written from comic to comic is almost never consistent. Jim Starlin portrays him as a great intellect who is greatly aware of the real workings of the universe; Ron Marz and Keith Giffen try to stay in line with his post- Infinity Gauntlet characterisation, writing him as a neutral force who acts out of curiosity and self-preservation; Jason Aaron's Thanos Rising, at the other end of the scale, suggests that he's simply a very powerful and deluded mass-murdering pirate and even that his initial visions of death were ambiguously hallucinations rather than the real thing. Most other writers simply use him as an especially scary all-purpose cosmic villain, and some like to write him doing incredibly petty things For the Evulz. Thanos appears in Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series, voiced by Jake Hart. [127] This version seeks an ancient artifact called the Eternity Forge, but is killed in battle by the Guardians of the Galaxy. It's implied several times that this will always be his final fate. At the very end of the universe he is alone, tending a small farm until oblivion finally takes everything.

He tried this towards Doctor Doom at the end of Secret Wars (2015). Doom responded by relieving him of his spine. Born Winner: Eternals tend to be born winners with their lifespans of thousands of years and mystical abilities, but Thanos takes it even further thanks to his mutation. Achilles' Heel: Oddly enough, he's probably his own weakness - for all his ambition, he subconsciously knows he doesn't deserve to win. This prevented him from keeping the omnipotent powers he would gain for more than a few issues. Science Wizard: Thanos is a genius in virtually all known fields of science having augmented his own physiology and created devices such as a chair capable of time travel and interstellar flight. He has also displayed some knowledge of the mystic arts; he once cursed Deadpool to never die so Deadpool could never be with Death whom Thanos was in love with. Well, true believers, I’m very pleased to report that the hype is real. This seven-issue collection is a must-read for fans of the mad titan (and even those non-fans who are still angry about that pesky finger snap) and reminds readers of the level of crazy-cool madness only comics can deliver.

Deadpool: Assassin #2 review: Another funny, blood soaked adventure

Did You Just Punch Out Cthulhu?: In the Samaritan miniseries, he managed to win against a female incarnation of the Beyonder. It was still a very difficult fight for Thanos though.

Blunden, Fred (March 10, 2017). "The 25 Greatest Comic Book Supervillains Of All Time, Ranked". Screen Rant . Retrieved November 23, 2022. Writer-artist Jim Starlin conceived of Thanos of Titan during college psychology classes. As Starlin described:Not only is Thanos physically dominant, he knows how to use his strength. He is an extremely skilled combatant, both in hand-to-hand combat and using weaponry. Before he got the Infinity Stones, he went from world to world, conquering and killing half of the population. The 2016 series introduces the God Quarry; a place at the edge of the universe that offers god-like power but petrifies those who fail to achieve it, with all the failures on display. It's largely comparable to the Source Wall. Magneto’s name, logically, comes from his abilities gained with mutation. He can manipulate all forms of magnetism, from which most of his other powers stem from. That doesn’t only mean he can make metal things move – he can create magnetic force fields, levitate non-magnetic objects, etc. His powers are so strong that he can easily lift 30 000 tons without breaking a sweat. Thanos is a supervillain appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Created by writer-artist Jim Starlin, the character first appeared in The Invincible Iron Man #55 ( cover date February 1973). An Eternal– Deviant warlord from the moon Titan, Thanos is regarded as one of the most powerful beings in the Marvel Universe. He has clashed with many heroes including the Avengers, the Guardians of the Galaxy, the Fantastic Four, the Eternals, and the X-Men. The MCU incarnation of Thanos appeared in Fortnite Battle Royale as part of Marvel-sponsored Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame tie-in events, voiced by archive audio of Josh Brolin.
