About this deal

Danish brand AIAIAI take the idea of customisation to extreme levels, offering a huge range of optional drivers, ear cups, cables and headbands for their TMA-2 headphones. The modular design means that owners can customise and tweak the headphones into thousands of different configurations to suit their personal needs, whether it’s for DJ use, studio production or just listening.

The Sennheiser HD25 is possibly the best-selling professional DJ headphone in the world. Chosen by many DJs because of superb sound quality, comfort and durability. Every part of the HD25 can be replaced, from cable to capsule and even the iconic split headband – this is a DJ accessory that’s built to last. As far as the other accessories go, Sennheiser offer a range of options such as velour earpads, coiled cables and replacement parts. I prefer the comfort of the velour earpads, which slightly reduce isolation but which I also find balance out the sound a little. I also prefer a coiled cable for DJ use and straight for studio use and general listening, but this is very much a matter of personal preference. Either way, the modular design of the Lights also means that you can easily replace parts just as easily as you can on the other models, which has always been a major advantage of the HD25s, allowing you to customise them slightly but more importantly to repair them if you do happen to damage anything. If the headphones have sound in only one ear or differing sound levels in each ear or the sound in general is not what you expected then it needs to be determined where the issue lies - with the headphones or with the audio source. As a comparison, I lined up the HD25 Lights alongside a brand new pair of the current standard HD25s and my own time-served pair of the old HD25-1 model. It’s immediately obvious that the sound is consistent across all three, offering that trademark HD25 low-end punch in abundance. The newer models both sound a little bit more bass-heavy compared to my old faithfuls, but that’s probably down to my choice of velour earpads. Audiophiles continue to debate whether headphone ‘burn in’ really exists, but my own experience with HD25s suggests that they do mellow slightly with use. Notes:A new refined model of the HPC-HD25 series, more suitable for the field, is now available from the NEO brand! Notes:The Zomo Replacement Pad Set made of Velour is available in many fashionable colours and fits the headphones Technics RP-DH1200 and Pioneer HDJ-1000/-1500/-2000. 2 x ear pads are included in this set. The RH2500 is surprisingly simple in a way. It’s a clean and streamlined, no-frills pair of headphones that gets the job done. Sometimes terms like ‘no-nonsense’ or ‘cheap and cheerful’ might sound like damning with faint praise, but in this case they should be taken entirely literally. No, the RH2500s can’t quite match the build quality or sound of some of the premium models on the market, but they’re really not all that far off models costing five times as much. Very impressive for DJs on a budget. More info/Buy Pros

So as a conclusion we can state the MD 421 has no maximum SPL limitations for practical use. However if using dynamic microphones at high SPL levels a user should be aware that the very high voltage (up to several volts) delivered by the microphone might cause problems when connected to mic preamps. You should get an instant answer on whether your application has been successful, though in some rare cases Klarna or V12 may need to look at the application in more detail. Here at Sennheiser we use dynamic microphones for distortion measurements on loudspeakers at very high sound pressure levels. At Sennheiser we have measured the SPL and THD inside a large 2" driver/horn combination with a MD 421. The max SPL this combination was able to produce was 150 dB and the THD level recorded by a MD 421 was below 1% (produced by the driver not by the mic)

With a bombproof design and detailed, balanced sound, the Sennheiser HD 25 are difficult to not fall in love with

Technics is, of course, a brand best known for turntables. The Japanese company continues to make the definitive DJ turntable in the form of the SL-1210 MK7 but over the years they’ve also put out a decent range of mixers, headphones and other DJ-related kit. You would generally be requested to enter the supplied activation code to activate the software and allow you to use the software on your specified computer or laptop.

Choosing an HD 25 means placing more emphasis on functionality and sound, and less on its understated yet appealing appearance. These headphones have thus established themselves as the most popular among DJs and broadcasters. So far, the light version has distanced itself from the classic mainly because of the missing swivel joints, but also because of its slightly less hefty sound. We offer free delivery on all of our items (UK mainland only) please see details below. Destination What you sacrifice with the HD25 Lights is the adjustability of the rotating earpieces on the more expensive models, but that’s not necessarily a problem depending on how you like to use your headphones. Personally I can’t remember ever using the split headband feature with my own HD25s. I do use the rotating earpiece often, but I could certainly live with the more basic design, which I found I could easily set in place for single-ear cueing. It’s worth noting that the cable also attaches to both ear cups separately on this model, as opposed to the way it comes in on one side and routes around the top of the headband on the more expensive models. For studio use none of this is a problem at all, and I suspect a lot of people will be happy to sacrifice that little bit of adjustability for the cost saving over the premium models. Free silver solder SS-47 for high sound quality and environmental friendliness. Reasonably priced. Manufactured in Japan under strict production control. Sennheiser has once again remained true to its purist, one-piece design, but with the technical data, it is fortunately now on a par with its big brother. Design and functionality This TMA-2 modular headphone system offers a customizable solution that adapts to your creative process. With interchangeable components such as earpads, cables, and drivers, you can upgrade or change parts of your headphones to improve sound quality, comfort, or style.
