About this deal

A pretty adult Aspie will get attention for her appearance, but her further behavior, contrary to the expectations of men, will always destroy these relationships. The less pretty Aspie girls will be ignored as Aspie girl don’t pay attention to looks, prefer comfortable over trendy clothes, and don’t like makeup, and most importantly, they don’t have that “Welcome” look of neurotypical women. Title: Natural language markers of social phenotype in girls with autism - Song - 2021 - Journal of Child Psychology and Psychiatry - Wiley Online Library Individuals on the autism spectrum often tend to develop special interests and obsessions. The classic stereotypes used in society are special interests and obsessions with facts. Girls with autism generally have limited interest in activities and are often very specific in what they enjoy. Generally speaking, from Aspie’s point of view, these neurotypical people do not have the ability to empathize, because they are either bullied at school or turn a blind eye to it. As an adult, Aspies constantly watch how “normal” people pretend to be sympathetic and describe it in the right words, but do not really feel it and show their indifference with their deeds after five minutes. It is all the more offensive for Aspies, especially women, to read in articles over and over again how “insensitive and free of empathy” they are. Like their male counterparts, women and girls with autism benefit from early intervention. An early diagnosis can mean earlier access to therapies and resources. It can also mean more time for the girl and her family to learn how to manage an ASD diagnosis. Early intervention is key, but a diagnosis later in life is better than no diagnosis.Aspies are hard-core realists. Logic and proof reign supreme in their world. What makes it possible to influence the behavior of children with Asperger syndrome that you can never achieve with emotions, shouting, punishment or threats. Another thing is that it is very difficult for parents to always act through logic and not succumb to their own emotional reaction. Sensory processing issues include difficulties processing intense lighting, sound, or touch. These are all characteristic symptoms of autism. For someone with ASD, sensory inputs increase the need for self-regulation through stimming, meltdowns, or, in more extreme cases, self-injurious behaviors. Behavioral Challenges Many books are written by individuals with special needs or, more specifically, with ASD. One great suggestion is The Spectrum Girl’s Survival Guide – How to Grow Up Awesome and Autistic. It is written by Siena Castellon, a girl with autism who, at a young age, is using her platform to give a voice to autistic girls worldwide. Speaking to Health Professionals Most Aspies acquire household skills late. They forget or do not pay attention to the sequence of actions (breaking concentration for “unimportant” topics). Unfortunately, the autistic tendency to be direct and take things literally can make affected girls and women easy prey for sexual exploitation. O'Toole herself was the victim of an abusive relationship, and she says the problem is “endemic” among women on the spectrum, particularly because so many are acutely aware of their social isolation. “When you feel you're too difficult to love, you'll love for crumbs,” she says.

In 2014 psychologist Thomas Frazier of the Cleveland Clinic and his colleagues assessed 2,418 autistic children, 304 of them girls. They, too, found that girls with the diagnosis were more likely to have low IQs and extreme behavior problems. The girls also had fewer (or perhaps less obvious) signs of “restricted interests”—intense fixations on a particular subject such as dinosaurs or Disney films. These interests are often a key diagnostic factor on the less severe end of the spectrum, but the examples used in diagnosis often involve stereotypically “male” interests, such as train timetables and numbers. In other words, Frazier had found further evidence that girls are being missed. And a 2013 study showed that, like Frances, girls typically receive their autism diagnoses later than boys do.Pelphrey is finding that autism also highlights normal developmental differences between girls and boys. Sex hormones, he says, “affect just about every structure you might be interested in and just about every process you might be interested in.” Although boys generally mature much later than girls do, the differences in brain development appear to be quite big—far larger than the differences in behavior. Masking Autism Studies published by Springer and SageJournals reported personal experiences of older autistic girls and women who obtained a diagnosis of ASD later in adulthood.

In her book, Laura, an autistic teenager, says, “There’s a lot more pressure on girls in general to be a certain way, but I think that especially affects girls on the autistic spectrum because we are more different anyway so it’s more difficult for us to be just the same as everyone else.” I am planning to take her to the doctor for a more comprehensive/specific assessment. I am afraid she will be diagnosed with Asperhers and more afraid, she won't. Thirdly, their facial expressions do not correspond to the situation. Aspie can smile in confusion in situations where it is necessary to portray grief. O'Toole's story reflects the power of an individual to compensate for a developmental disability and hints at another reason females with autism can be easy to miss. Girls may have a greater ability to hide their symptoms. “If you were just judging on the basis of external behavior, you might not really notice that there's anything different about this person,” says University of Cambridge developmental psychopathologist Simon Baron-Cohen. “It relies much more on getting under the surface and listening to the experiences they're having rather than how they present themselves to the world.” Some things seem meaningless to them. Part of household duties is unpleasant for them because of hypersensitivity – smells, unpleasant tactile sensations (see inadequacy of sensations).According to one study, the Aspie group showed that in a simulated situation it was more difficult for them to sacrifice the interests of one person in the interests of the group than for the control group of “normal”. They tend to have a heightened sense of justice and correctness, which is enhanced by their own experience of constant persecution and resentment.
