About this deal

To reduce the risk of serious injury and/or damage to your Festool product, always read, understand and follow all warnings and instructions in your Festool product's Instruction Manual. I want my table top to be 1800mm long by 800mm wide, and here I'm measuring and marking up so that I can cut it to size - obviously I'm making sure to work from my square reference corner of the sheet. is probably most appropriate flush trim bit for the job, so size your drill bit accordingly - at least 1/2".

When I use the router after drilling the holes, I make sure I use a fixed base - hand position is usually closer to the workpiece so less chance of 'rocking' the bit. Originally I was just going to have 7 rows b 7 columns and I was going to have the rest of the table top as just a regular surface, but I ended up changing my mind and adding more holes because I figured it'd give me more options in future. It can be a bit tricky to drill large holes in to MDF because as the drill bit bites in to the layers of laminated wood, those layers can kind of tear, and that means the bit gets clogged up and stops biting in to the wood to drill properly. Peter is one of those people who is confident in what he does but what he designs and what he says makes perfect sense. MAKITA Router Adapter for Makita / Festool Track Guide Rail Quick Change TWISTLOCK DRT50Z, XTR01Z, RT0700C + Katsu.I am hoping that a forum member is familiar with this process and may know exactly what I am looking to do. They will support boards and planks for easier sawing and, handily, they also double-up as a temporary table support with a board for when you're.

CNC machine time would be your only variable, or the additional wear cost on bits for each hole drilled. This isn't an ad or anything, I bought them with my own money, but I've just been impressed with them so thought it worth mentioning. Keep in mind that when using a 'pattern' router bit (the bearing is at the top, closest to the router) some manufacturers slightly undersize the cutter diameter compared to the bearing diameter so that the 'pattern' does not cut each time. It was 1 1/4" MDF, which increases the drilling/routing effort in the first place, but the real kicker is that the F style clamps will not fit through the holes. The Parf Guide System includes the correct boring bit and also has a Parf Dust Port available to effectively remove the MDF chips and dust to prevent interference with the precision hole boring. There might just be a video out soon on a modestly popular YouTube channel that compares the UJK Parf Guide Mk2 with the Trend MFT/jig and the RSPro jig.

I was expecting to need to spend some time levelling the top shelf frame before adding the MFT top, but because I assembled it on a flat floor, it actually looked pretty good when sighting down the length. It can be helpful to drill a small hole that is 71 mm from each edge at the corner of the MDF, as that will help in aligning the rail. After a few different tops, I had nicked a couple of the holes in the template top and I had to deal with that during the last build. I still need to familiarise myself with everything else that an MFT table can do, because like I say I'm a total newb and there's probably lots of stuff it can do that I don't know about yet. I also think the bit ate away more of the material than it otherwise would have with MDF, probably partly because of the knots, and the tolerances on each of the holes are all over the place--some are kind of loose, some are tight. Before I go and spend my money on the wrong tools Does anybody know or have a link to the correct bushing size and drill bit that fits the 20mm MFT/3 holes used to prevent damaging the the top before drilling out the bulk of the holes? If you are interested in a work surface with lots of 20mm holes for clamping and are not concerned about the accuracy, the MFT/3 top might be ideal. Being smooth one side also meant the bottom was exposed, and everywhere there was a knot, a potential void formed. It probably took me two to three times as long to drill out the holes in the MDO as it would've taken with MDF.
