About this deal

It's an alternative way to penetrate into the engineering mindset and understand, as the title say, "The Art of Electronics", which is a lot more than just mathematics, it's a particular way of thinking, which this book teaches masterfully. This epic work was created by two of the best experts in the field (with many others providing information). On the other hand, there is something to be said for swinging for the fences, and if you get through this, you will have a pretty good start on the basics. Chapter 5 details every circuit artifact that I've encountered in the past thirty years in a through, pragmatic, and straightforward way.

Literally the worst introduction to transistors I have ever seen, for the past few hours I have been trying to find something worst and it seems impossible. But it's very well-written and explains things in an intuitive way that I never really learned in college. However, for those interested in 1960s-1980s vintage analog synthesizers, this turns out to be a plus. so far as i could tell, the entire EE undergraduate curriculum was assumed, and yet at times Horowitz would start from first principles and surely talk underneath the EEs in the room.I would personally say that this is not a complete beginners book, because there's a lot of information. For some reason, I almost didn’t recognise it by the title on teh interwebs for several mentions until I got used to it, it sticks in my mind and heard it referred to in real life as “Horowitz and Hill” . I highly recommend it for any electrical engineering student or graduate for the transistor chapters alone. If you can have an 'open book' exam, allowing you to bring a book in with you, then you need to have in-depth knowledge of this book prior to this, but its a great help if you know your way around it already. quite often you'd start getting into the interesting shit, and there would be an annoying reference to the "X" chapters, sold in another (expensive) accompanying book.

While I’ll discuss some of the highlights of each chapter — but not an exhaustive list — keep in mind that this book reads a little differently than AoE3: it’s more engineering reference handbook and less textbook. An encyclopedia of electronics knowledge, [The Art of Electronics] is a pleasure to read through for tips and tricks and is an unbeatable resource! I think the major difference between being an EE and a tech is that if you know the math, it’s not as hard to learn about the circuitry design, but if you know the circuitry it’s harder to figure out the math when there is actually a design problem, if you haven’t studied the higher level math.If you don't, you can probably still pick things up through osmosis, and you'd probably get the most out of it on your second pass through. is particularly interesting, covering mechanical switches and relays, components that we sometimes forget have non-ideal characteristics. The effected area was only about 10mm x 10mm at 2 corners, and using a scalpel, i was able to carefully cut away the tiny amount of surplus paper - the 'surgery' is barely noticeable. If you’ve been into electronics for any length of time, you’ve almost certainly run across the practical bible in the field, The Art of Electronics, commonly abbreviated AoE.
