About this deal

This one has some really excellent creepy vibes, something that’s been lacking in a lot of the thrillers I’ve read recently.

Joanna feels compelled to find out more about the mystery of Lily’s disappearance - but as Joanna attempts to discover the truth from amongst her new community, it becomes clear that Joanna has plenty of her own secrets.Right from the opening paragraph there is a creepy, eerie and unsettling feeling that only grows the further the book develops. Joanna thinks she may be remembering what happened to Lily, and her childhood self may have been involved. I read this in the space of a day - chapter one presents a completely gob smacking twist, and I was hooked from this point onwards. How this could be is somewhat clumsily explained over the running of the book, but is the only plot point that stretches the patience of the imagination, in a story with an excellent reveal, as has become Mara’s signature.

It might be this history, it might be because she has a three year old daughter, or maybe because her husband grew up nearby but Joanna becomes obsessed with discovering what happened to little Lily. In 2018 Joanna plays hide and seek with her youngest daughter Sophie, briefly losing her as she wanders into the garden next door. I couldn't stop turning the pages to find out what happened next as the gripping, clever plot twists and turns its way to a dramatic denouement. Hide and Seek is extremely well plotted and considering the amount of characters to keep track of this is no mean feat.Even though there is a smattering of males, the perspectives are all from female points-of-view, which makes sense in the context of traditional roles in the communities being portrayed. No One Saw a Thing, her most recent novel, sold more than 100,000 copies in thirteen weeks and was No. Who could given it was so twisty and brilliant but I was ever so slightly on the right track but as to the finer details I was way off track and delighted this was the case.

The Stedman family - Mark and Joanna and their children Sophie aged three, Emily aged eleven and Ben aged nine move into a nice large house in Rowanbrook in Dublin. Set in a Dublin suburb using two different timeliness, the story of missing child Lily Murphy unfolds. Joanna is determined to find out all she can about the little girls disappearance and the inhabitants of the close-knit neighbourhood are all eager to speculate. However Joanna may have more of a connection to this case than just living in the house the Murphy's used to live in.All in all though a good mystery, with the usual twists and turns I am beginning to see from this author. Hide and Seek is an unputdownable book and one I would recommend to any thriller lover who is looking for a book to keep them on the edge of their seat. Joanna is curious, has some time on her hands, and draws somewhat tenuous links to her own childhood.

A relentless, twisting page-turner, Hide and Seek delves deeply into every parent's worst nightmare. Until she learns about it's dark past: thirty years ago, it was home to three year old Lily Murph, who disappeared during a game of hide-and-seek, and never seen again. Just when you think Andrea Mara couldn’t possibly top her last book she goes and does it with this new story Hide and Seek. Very highly recommended to anyone who loves thrillers and who has or hasn't read Andrea's previous books. year-old Joanna forfeits her career to become a SAHM (girl, 11; boy, 9; girl, 3) when she and her husband, 49, move into a house in a closed community where he grew up outside of Dublin.

Where are you scratch your head trying to figure out the puzzle exercising every ounce of grey matter desperate to figure it out and coming up with all sorts of theories? Sarah Pearse'A relentless, twisting page-turner, Hide and Seek delves deeply into every parent's worst nightmare. There isn’t a minute where you can sit back and relax because Andrea keeps the reader on the edge of their seat and gripped, constantly guessing what could have happened? June 2018: Joanna Murphy (mother of 3) moves into a new house in the SoCoDu suburbs, only to learn that it was the home of Lily Murphy before she disappeared.
