About this deal

As a reader, I loved when they confided in each other, especially when Quin told Oak about his complicated relationship with his parents and their lack of support for his passion (hockey). Narration: Everyone and their uncle knows I was one of the witches at home casting spells to bring Mr Fox back into this gig of narrating books.

The story in general was not bad, but there simply were a few things that ticked me wrong, like a lot of veery unrealistic situations and ML reactions, that were just too much.Hell, I was the one who went and told him not to fall in love with me, yet here I am doing exactly that. Their emotional evolution, from their tumultuous beginnings to the tender love they share, is a captivating narrative thread that resonates profoundly with readers. It’s nice to have other plot points other than having people who are there just to make the characters jealous.

But athletes are a superstitious bunch, and when our hook-ups lead to victories, we tell ourselves we can’t stop.

When they win their first game of the season the next day after a handful of losses, they're convinced that what happened in the bathroom had something to do with it. As you can see, they had many sweet and meaningful moments together outside of the sex, and as a reader, I appreciated that.

One night, in the bathroom at a party, their tumultuous back and forth sees proving a point going a step too far and one of the men on their knees. All those feelings of hate and aggression both Quinton and Oakley have had for years are finally starting to wain and what is left behind are feelings neither one of them ever expected to feel. My path to success never included an enemy as a teammate, especially one as infuriating as Quinton de Haas. I enjoyed how complicated these two guys are and found myself conflicted due to the many misunderstandings and secrets that I knew would eventually cause many issues. Oak, the typical jock born from a family legacy of pro athletes, who introduced him to the sport and supported him with it throughout his life. It’s more of a sketched style of artwork, the linework messy but the shading and depth created in it is impeccable. This progression saw the transformation of animosity into desire, and that desire blossoming into a profound love. Quinn turned out to be clingier than Oakley and I definitely thought it was going to be the other way around. His bi-awakening (I'm only assuming as it's never actually really discussed where his sexuality lands) is so, so sweet.

The more time they spend together, the learn more about the other and realise that their initial thought about other were wrong. Turns out, there is one more thing they have in common that they discover at one of the Leighton U parties and Quinton tries to strike a bargain of sorts, but Oakley isn't having it. Quinton is just as good as he is stats wise but he’s a full on rage ball and he’s known as the bad boy of hockey. One could also argue the 3rd act breakup that OF COURSE occurs–not really a spoiler because it ALWAYS happens–was overdramatized, but again I think that just comes down to the specific reader and their personal opinion.Add in all the little chuckles, grunts, sighs and all that emotion in their voices…they brought them to life! No matter how annoying 75% breakups are, it’s all about how the other person makes up for it and this was done super well as there was just no denying how much Oakley loved Quinn and it had been there all along. But hey, at least this means you’re guaranteed for some hot, spicy MM action in this book that involves sneaking around, secret hookups, library shenanigans, and just lots of heat in general!
