They are the priciest of all the lands you could use although mint alpha and beta do seem to be catching them at an alarming rate. Well, whether you’re on Superfriends, a Nicol Bolas deck, a Ravnica deck, or even an Oathbreaker deck, there’s a bunch of places it can go.

But the thing is, I don't want to take apart the theme deck because I want to keep it intact, and I would only be getting 2 of 8 energies at one time anyway, and even then, I am limited as to what decks I can build. Unhinged only features one artwork for each basic land, and as a "joke set", its cards aren't usually tournament-legal. They're just really spooky and give me the creeps, which is what a Swamp and black as a color are supposed to do! As time went on and good land designs became scarcer, the "strictly better" exception was loosened (such as the Pathway lands), in exchange for an increase in references to the basic supertype and basic land types in other cards.These beauties also remind me of Unhinged since they feature so much art on the card that you think it’s a print the first time you see it. I didn't remove the wrapper to those basic lands yet, but if I wanted to build a deck from scratch, for cube, or for sealed deck based on a pool of cards, I could do that. Whether it’s having all of the same art, foils, full arts, you name it, players love customizing their basic lands to fit their style.

I loved putting together this list as it exposed me to some new artists that I might commission soon. The icy daggers in the bleak sky of this Innistrad mountain are a natural phenomenon, believe it or not.

We hadn't even been to Kaladesh when Origins came out so a whole load of new mountains needed drawing up. They were the only lands for a long time and are like thumbnails, symbols, or icons, more than anything else. The easy win is to stick it in Dominaria themed decks, but I also think it could be some nice imagery in a Superfriends deck.

These are likely the 2nd most expensive five lands presently out there and are a full art panoramic set. Some opt to extend the preexisting art to the edges of the card while others like to completely transform the card into everything they’ve ever wanted.

It’s very on-theme with the recently released Innistrad sets, and it gives me that icky vampire feel that I crave. In Magic: The Gathering, basic lands are lands that possess the supertype " Basic" in their type line and may be tapped to produce mana.What little light there is on the piece is granted by the low-hanging and lethargic moon, suggesting even it can’t protect you from the things that go bump in the night. I have only the full art versions, I wonder how long it will be before I consider the normal ones missing and collect them too? The fairytale-esque world offers several stunning locations with four artworks from each basic land; above you'll find my favorite visual for each (the others are also worth examining). But for a semi-official set that debuted back in 2004, it offered immersive full-arts that still hold up today.
