About this deal

But this is another great read from Pomare and the sneak peek at his next book (included in the paperback copy) will whet your appetite for his 2024 release. As the third wave of the virus hits, all inhabitants of Melbourne are given until 8 pm to get to their homes. CHRISTIAN WHITE'This grabbed me from the opening page and didn't let go' MICHAEL ROBOTHAM'The thrill and fear arrive early in Home Before Night and doesn't leave until the final pages. There are lots of different twists in this mystery, thriller, my mind had all different thoughts trying to sort out what was happening, and the ending was not what I expected at all, a short story that I did in one sitting, it is fast paced and has lots happening in, characters that add to the story. If anything, it ends abruptly and was a little on the short side in terms of resolution, but all in all, a satisfying read and a terrific way to finish a weekend of reading.

With a few red herrings and unexpected twists, this is one engaging read that you won't want to put down. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. The book is mainly from her perspective - a tortured look into her reality, her life beginning and seemingly revolving around Samuel.A woman races against time to find her son in this tense and twisty thriller by the Top Ten bestselling author of The Wrong Woman --This text refers to an alternate kindle_edition edition. My only negative is that whilst it does pack a punch in a short period of time, I was left wishing that the backstory of some of the characters had been fleshed out and this was a full length novel. This was the most ridiculous book, once’s you finish it you understand why characters are certain ways and it does make sense sense but that doesn’t change the way I felt about the first 80% of the book.

Pomare depicts this precarious, uncertain and trying time well, reminding us of the restrictions that were placed on us just a few short years ago. Thanks is extended to Hachette Australia for providing a free copy of this book for review purposes. Maybe I'm just thick, but I didn't get the twist at the end and can think of no plausible explanation for how it could have happened, so this left it feeling unfinished for me. I found the protagonist needy, overbearing and in general unlikeable which might be a ick for some readers, but I don't mind especially if they're interesting and it's a bonus when it all makes so much sense at the end.

Twists come out of nowhere and the high drama of the final few chapters is edge-of-the-seat stuff' New Zealand Women's Weekly'A twisty small-town mystery with a protagonist I didn't want to let go' IAN RANKIN'The pay-off is criminally good . Lou has to ponder whether Samuel is in danger, or whether he is just being a typical 19 year old boy trying to build his own independence at a time when the world has changed unexpectedly around them. Thank you to the lovely team at Hachette Australia for my copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. Lou is out of her mind with worry, but she can’t go to the police, because she has secrets of her own.Weak and unsubstantial - as evidenced by the way that almost a third of the paperback is actually a seven chapter preview of his next book! Having a 19 month and 6 month old babies, and also being raised as a Mormon, I had multiple points of relevance with the book AND those twist…. The whole story with Jessica fascinated me and I so wish it had gone down that path and not where it went. P Pomare I think I know what's happening and where the story is going then BOOM he flips the script on me.

With limited resources and an unhelpful ex-husband Lou does all she can to try to track down her son. You know from the outset this will be a twisty psychological thriller and it's all that, with the storyline taking a few left turns to keep the suspense tightly coiled' Herald Sun'Ratchets up psychological suspense with a cleverly constructed plot that can be devoured in one go' Sydney Morning Herald'A frantic domestic thriller .However, I felt it ended too quickly and wrapped up sharply, leaving me feeling a bit short -changed. Set in Melbourne during Covid lockdown, unfortunately there weren’t really any likable characters in this book, but I did enjoy the twist which I didn’t see coming, which also helped to explain certain character traits. Set during the pandemic as Melbourne faced lockdown after lockdown, this tension filled tale will have you flipping pages at breakneck speed to get to the bottom of this compulsive crime mystery. Deftly written, lean in style, this is a gripping read from a true talent' Weekend Australian'Tense and twisty . I wasn't sure if the author was shooting for maximum veracity with his depiction of lockdowns and covid, and I did notice that he never actually mentions covid just 'the virus' which I assume is to take some liberties with the facts.
