Inspired by the concept of independent winemaking, the guys at Spider Pig have created something special. We've championed the wines from here for a many years and always get first dibs on the best parcels. A classic Shiraz packed with intense black fruit, peppery spice and a finish that is as long as the Nile. A wine that is ready to go right away but for those who like their wines a little mellower it will cellar for another 5 years happily and soften as the months drift away.The winemaker is then given total freedom to source the grapes they want and to create the wine they want. Wild indigenous yeasts are used for fermentation; fining and filtration is generally avoided; dry farming, manual labour, the traditional method of horse and plough are other examples of the natural approach. The vines are healthier and more resilient and can often produce fruit of more personality and purity, and because these wines are made without any chemicals or inorganic fertilisers, they are better for you as well! A revelation if you're more used to the thumping, ostentatious style typical of the more traditional Aussie fare.
