I found this world to be so dark and it fit perfectly with the plot and the characters. If you go into this book looking for a cute retelling of Cinderella, this is not what you will get. It’s raw, poignant, truthful and dark. This setting made the book so vivid, believable and I was completely immersed. CHARACTERS I don’t think I can put into words how incredible, important and damn brilliant this book was and that ending had me a little teary-eyed because I was just like “YES”! You will know what I mean if you decide to read the book. I’ll just try to make this review as non-waffly as I can!

Will Sophia and Constance be able to overthrow a two hundred-year-old regime, or will they, like other independent young women, become victims of the patriarchy? The Characters After witnessing the King's cruelty, and the citizens impotence in the face of such evil, Sophia can't stand it anymore. She makes up her mind that she needs to get away. Feeling she has no other option, refusing to bow to these ridiculous traditions, Sophia runs. As I mentioned, the only reason I can really recommend this book is for the inclusive representation. It’s an easy enough read with a fun twist on the classic fairytale and important elements of girls overthrowing the patriarchy. However, the unfulfilling execution of its promising premise left a lot to be desired Boon, Sammie (Winter 2020). "Cinderella is Dead". The School Librarian. 68 (4): 242–243. ProQuest 2507261738. DO SOPHIA AND CONTANCE END UP TOGETHER? They have to end up together or i might go on a murder spree👀Kalynn Bayron does more than re-write a fairytale ... She breaks it apart and rebuilds it into a wholly original and captivating story where girls finally decide for themselves who lives happily ever after Thank you so much to Candyce for buddy reading this book with me, I loved this buddy read so much and it was great discussing it all with you! This year marks the bicentennial of the first ball, where our beloved Cinderella was chosen by Prince Charming. The festivities will be grand and made all the more special by your attendance.

Sophia knows the story though, off by heart. Because every girl has to recite it daily, from when she's tiny until the night she's sent to the royal ball for choosing. And every girl knows that she has only one chance. For the lives of those not chosen by a man at the ball ... are forfeit. If you expect to read to a charming, sweet fairy tale, a hearts and flowers kind of sweet, soft, swoon story, just close the book! And find yourself another read! Fight for our rights: This was the pivotal message in the book and I couldn’t agree with it more. The author has such a strong and determined message to bring forward through her characters, you can hear her voice and her wishes through the world she has made and in the end, I was a bit emotional to be honest because we need more books like this one. This is such an important theme and one I love reading about in books, I found the message so strong here and it could not have been pulled off in a better way, I truly salute the author. This book is set in a world not really unlike our own because a lot of the predetermined ways people live, think and act are exactly like our own. There is prejudice, there is bullying, the fact people don’t stand up when something bad or wrong happens. This was definitely a very scathing criticism of our own society and I thought that it was executed really well. Night Mayor Franklefink has vanished from the Transylvanian Express - and it's up to you to solve the case! Part of the Solve Your Own Mystery seri... This ended up being a slightly above average YA fantasy read for me. There are issues with this story but I think I would still recommend this to fans of fairytale retellings. It’s very readable with a nice fast pace, just be prepared for some bumps.

Any story in which the main characters are out to topple the patriarchy is aces with me. I think my young adult self would have loved to have literature like this at my disposal. There isn’t any subtlety to the feminist messaging in Cinderella is Dead, but it works. Sophia and Constance are wise beyond their years. They realize the most dangerous men are the ones who sit in plain sight daring to be challenged, and they’re determined to do more than challenge them. Sophia and Constance are the resistance, and they won’t be stopped. The Cons I loved this twisty version of story with great, thought provoking criticism of patriarchy and Sophia is well crafted, relatable, powerful character we may truly support and chant for!

Full of power, humour, strength and love, "Cinderella Is Dead" shows itself to be one of the most engaging novels I've encountered this year. With a powerful story that is about doing what is right and a host of characters you come to care for deeply, I can find so few faults with this. It will be one I recommend to everyone over the next few months
