Description

Police procedural mystery/romantic suspense series set in Northumbria, England following Detective Chief Inspector Ryan.

Ross was born and grew up in Ponteland, Northumberland, England. [10] She completed undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in law at King's College London, where she met her husband, and continued her studies in Paris and Florence. After spending most of her twenties working in the City as a lawyer, she began to feel it was time for change. [11] Publishing career [ edit ] L.J. Ross (Louise) is an international bestselling author, best known for creating atmospheric mystery and thriller novels, including the DCI Ryan series of Northumbrian murder mysteries which have sold over four million copies worldwide. Set on the historic Holy Island otherwise known as Lindisfarne, “Holy Island” is a gripping novel that introduces Detective Chief Inspector Ryan. Ryan has retreated to Holy Island to recover from a tragic case that had a particularly bad effect on his psyche. A few days into his sabbatical, the tranquility is broken when the body of a young woman is discovered abandoned on the ruins of the nearby monastery buildings.

Now, if you know the series, you will know there are some things, including the killer's moniker, that I have left out of that description. The reason is that I think, if you are new to the series there are things better left unsaid so that you can discover them for yourself, just as we did when reading Holy Island. This audiobook can easily be listened to as a standalone, or as the first in the series as at this stage the relationships are all new, the future of Ryan and his team undecided and anything can happen. It gives good grounding before heading into the written series as to how Ryan came to be on Holy Island in the first place, although bear in mind that if this is the first 'book' you engage with, there will be elements of Holy Island which will not be as big a surprise when you do read it. I have before that this series would make a brilliant TV show and this audio is simply the best making you feel part of the investigation. I have always said that this series would make a brilliant TV show now I think that even more. Close your eyes for a second while watching your favourite programme and just listen to the words…..This is exactly what The Infirmary is like. watching a thriller without the TV, you will know what I mean when you listen to it.

Brilliant, fantastic, many more words I could say. This book was totally gripping from start to finish and the ending had me mentally saying 'oh no what next'. Can't wait for her next book."In 2021, Ross set up the Northern Photography Prize for images captured in the North East of England, [18] as well as reading and writing challenges and prizes for adults and children. [19] Novels [ edit ] DCI Ryan Mysteries Series [ edit ] Despite the fact that Ryan is leery at first, he and Anna find themselves both feeling a strong attraction for each other. But no matter the production (which was epic) if the storyline was rubbish then what is the point. But guess what….it was NOT rubbish, yup you got it, word of the post, it was EPIC!

DCI Ryan’s North East Ever thought of retracing the footsteps of DCI Ryan and DS Phillips in the North East of England? In May 2021, Louise was shortlisted for the prestigious Crime Writers’ Association ‘Dagger in the Library’ award, which recognises an author’s entire body of work having been consistently enjoyed by library borrowers around the United Kingdom, and an author’s longstanding support of libraries. Louise was born in Northumberland, England. She studied undergraduate and postgraduate Law at King’s College, University of London and then abroad in Paris and Florence. ABOUT LJ ROSS LJ Ross is an international bestselling author, whose books have sold over 8 million copies worldwide. This is one hell of an engaging story, once you start it you won't be able to stop it is utterly addictive. Accusations abound in the small, close-knit community, and ‘old’ religions spar against ‘new’ while fear runs like wildfire through the streets. With so many potential motives and countless opportunities, there’s only one man who can help solve this particular mystery… Crime novellist [sic] LJ Ross is writing her own destiny". Express North . Retrieved 2 February 2016. I love a crime novel and this one did not disappoint! Great twists and turns and good ending. Looking forward to the next one."

Fictionophile’s OCTOBER 2023 Reading Wrap-Up #bookblogger #MonthlyWrapUp#Fictionophile October 31, 2023Thinking of a creative venture that would take her away from her job, she fell pregnant with her son. Motherhood was a very exciting prospect for L.J. Ross, though she was still unsatisfied with her career that would not give her the flexibility she desired to have as a mother. This one sounds really good Lynne. I love your graphics used to describe this book. They entice me as much as your words. I am adding this one to my TBR mountain, but will also see if I can find it at any of my sources before having to buy it. Well done. I love that I know all the places you write about, even more so now, as have just moved away from England and I’m now in Australia, just so nostalgic to read about the places I know. Thank you for your wonderful stories. Reply
