I love Gentill's (Freddie's) description of the writing process, likening it to laying bricks without a plan, allowing the walls to twist and turn on a whim.I guessed I had to turn the pages faster to find out more about these four people and how their paths get crossed as more violence and murders are thrown into the equation. On one hand, the novel opens with a chit-chatty message to Australian author Hannah Tigone from one of her US fans, Leo. She is also a fish out of water who instantly bonds with Whit, Marigold, and Cain not only because she is in a strange place when she hears the scream, but also because she lacks other relationships that ground her.
