Bradley Bartleby is greedy, but every year, despite his long Christmas list, he gets only a pair of socks from Santa. Not surprisingly, Bradley falls into several of his own traps on Christmas Eve, and gets what he deserves. Although he qualified as an architect, he found the job unsatisfying and began pursuing a career in children's books in his spare time, eventually going full-time in 1995, a few months before his thirtieth birthday.I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would use it in my classroom around Christmas time for a lesson on being grateful and appreciating what you have. Having been disappointed by the first illustrator, we set about finding an alternative, only to have a similar thing happen again — and again — and again! The digital mixed media illustrations featuring a fiendishly smiling Bradley while he plots Santa's demise and then a duly chastened Bradley at the end of a very long night will bring a smile to almost anyone's lips--except maybe someone who recognizes him/herself in Bradley.

I decided that the child in my story would be a villainous brat, with the resources of a wealthy family and a long-standing grudge against Santa Claus. He was previously a Trustee of the Dancers’ Pension Scheme, the Dance Education and Training Board, and ArtsDepot, and a Board observer for The Royal Ballet Benevolent Fund. There's one big explosion but the results are comic, with Bradley being shot out of his house onto the snow and running into the menacing tigers he had intended to attack Santa.Fantasia’ was created in 2019, with three female dancers, and was awarded in The Guardian’s ‘Top 10 Dance of the Year’. One of them was uncomfortable with a child being portrayed as irredeemably bad and wanted him to become Santa’s little helper at the end of the story. Bernadette's impeccable skill using dark colors and shadows enhance the sinister actions of a ghastly little boy.
