About this deal

The film is based on the real life story of Stanisława Leszczyńska whose actions helped save newborns from immediate extermination.

The Midwife of Auschwitz - Goodreads

This book is wonderful for not having any harsh swear words in it, so would be suitable for older teens to read but with the trigger warnings that would be necessary for such topics. I wanted to be an author from the moment I could pick up a pen and was writing boarding-school novels by the age of nine.

I would say this book is on par with the likes of 'The' diary of Anne Frank' which left me with the same feelings your novel has if not even more emotional. Ester lived in the Jewish ghetto with her husband and family and worked at the makeshift hospital caring for the sickly and injured patients. This five-star novel was inspired by the real-life story of the valiant Stanislawa Leszczyńska, a Polish Catholic woman who assisted at the births of over 3,000 children during her time in the notorious death camp, Auschwitz. It is absolutely rammed with emotions that will make you smile, cry and laugh on the roller-coaster ride to hell that is Auschwitz. Ana Kaminski is pushed through the iron gates of Auschwitz beside her frightened young friend Ester Pasternak .

Stanisława Leszczyńska - Wikipedia

Women who found out they were pregnant at the camp were sometimes given abortions by Gisella Perl, a doctor who helped prevent hundreds of women from giving birth. I was gifted this advance copy by Anna Stuart, Bookouture and NetGalley and was under no obligation to provide a review. Leszczyńska was separated from her sons, who were sent to different camps to do forced labor, and sent to Auschwitz with her daughter, a medical student. Consoling the distraught woman, Ana realises amidst the terrible heartache there is a glimmer of hope.I am not entirely sure whether the characters in this book are based off of real people, regardless - this is some seriously skilled storytelling. But they each experience some horrific things as they work together to try and save the children and keep hope alive.
