About this deal

I highly recommend this for young parents, but also for any adult wanting to improve their relationships with other human beings. Whāraurau provides training and ongoing professional development opportunities for those delivering The Incredible Years® parent and teacher programmes, including support to maintain programme fidelity, to become an accredited group leader and to deliver with cultural fidelity. It includes pictures from the video program chosen to remind parents of the vignette discussions they had in their groups.

The Incredible Years (R): Trouble Shooting Guide for Parents

Dr Carolyn Webster-Stratton is a licensed clinical psychologist, nurse practitioner, and Professor Emeritus at the University of Washington. This no-nonsense book covers the ground of several other parenting books without the hype and packaging.Children in classrooms where teachers received Incredible Years training show fewer behavior and conduct problems. I think if your children are over 5 it's too late to apply these concepts without alienating your children or deeply embarrassing them. These reports outlined significant concerns that children as young as three years of age can be identified as being on an antisocial pathway, which can of course lead to significant negative impacts for both the child and society as a whole over the course of the child's lifetime. Conduct problems have been shown to be the single most important predicting factor of later chronic antisocial behaviour problems. That can still be useful, since even when the book gave advice I already agreed with, I often noticed afterward that I wasn't following the advice as often as I'd thought.

The Incredible Years ® offers a variety of evidence-based early intervention programs for parents, teachers, early childhood educators, counselors, and other professionals who work with children ages 0-12. The book says for children 2-8 but these principles can be taught and are effective for people of all ages.My Son's Dad and I are no longer together, so he's currently got my copy while I use the CAMHS copy.

Part 2 is addressed to parents managing their own problems and stressors, and Part 3 addresses specific areas such as screen time, going to bed, and sibling rivalry. It is formatted for easier reading, with pull-out sections highlighting key principles and parenting tools. I know I'm asking too much; if Webster-Stratton came up with techniques that involved very little thought or effort she would be a Goddess and the world would be overrun by kids because those parents who go 'another kid? On balance, I think I found it useful but annoying, which is about as much as can be hoped for with this sort of book. All of these approaches will enhance parent-child positive relationships and attachment, build language development and promote positive peer interactions.

The Incredible Years programs for children utilize dinosaur-themed materials and life-size puppets to capture children's attention and improve their social-emotional skills and capabilities in various areas, such as building friendships, controlling anger, resolving problems, adhering to school rules, and other applicable skills. Not quite sure how I feel about this one -- it veers between "that's a good idea, we should try that", "thanks, Captain Obvious" and "no, that has zero chance of working". This invaluable handbook uses the Incredible Years® Parenting Pyramid® as the architectural or construction plan for specific parenting tools that help prevent behaviour problems from occurring and promote childrens social, emotional, and academic competence, and healthy lifestyles. Delivered in small group or classroom settings, the programs are designed to strengthen child well-being, promote social-emotional learning and academic competence, and prevent, reduce, and treat behavioral and emotional problems in young children. The approach includes a commitment to support kaupapa Māori initiatives Huakina Mai and Te Mana Tikitiki and an intensive wrap around support service to support those with greatest behavioural need. The book helps parents to build a strong positive relationship foundation before using respectful discipline tools to reduce target behavior problems. This was referred to me as a resource to follow PBMT (parent behavior management training) though the author does not use that specific term. It was focused on how to get better behavior from children, but within that focus it covered a side variety of techniques - time outs, ignoring unwanted behavior, positively reinforcing wanted behavior, teaching problem solving skills, etc. He's 10 years old, and after years of fighting to get help, CAMHS got in touch and asked me if I'd be interested in The Incredible Years course.I would recommend this book to a new parent with no experience as a place to start and then would have them move onto The Whole Brain Child, No-Drama Discipline, and Boundaries with Kids as much better texts. The book helps parents to build a strong positive relationship foundation before using respectful discipline tools to reduce target behaviour problems. The parenting programs are grouped according to age: babies (0-12 months), toddlers (1-3 years), preschoolers (3-6 years), and school age (6-12 years).
