Unfortunately, it exists exclusively in dialogue options and cutscenes, with no ramifications in gameplay. Still, another coat of polish would have gone a long way, especially in cutscenes where all of those issues are more apparent in close-ups. It's all very dated and has no real surprises up its sleeve; it's got weird uncanny valley NPCs, linear missions, a bunch of very run-of-the-mill guns and some of the worst grenades in the grenade business. As a pure shooter, Rogue City isn’t overly ambitious, but it’s a lot of fun to play even if you don’t know anything about the series. More than once I had audio and video get out of sync, had frozen faces accompany dialogue, and had total game crashes on two occasions.

The street gangs, bikers, and mercenaries that make up the bulk of the enemy fodder aren’t anywhere close to as powerful as he is, and it is so fun to walk right at these evil doers, shrugging off their small arms fire, and shredding them to literal pieces with the brap brap of Robo’s iconic Auto 9 machine-pistol. RoboCop’s main concern (as it always has been) is to clean it up by being judge, jury and executioner.

RoboCop: Rogue City is an entertaining FPS/action-RPG which pays homage to the legendary RoboCop franchise with satisfying gunplay, an intriguing original storyline, and an immersive presentation. The appeal to nostalgia is strong, and that can have a significant impact on how much mileage you get out of this.

You’ll need these weapons and upgrades because as you clean the streets of Old Detroit of criminals, you will eventually encounter more difficult enemies who will reduce you to scrap if you’re not careful.Items in the game's environments, such as exploding barrels and televisions sets, can also be flung around. Environments and character models look great, but animations are stiff and unconvincing, especially facial animations, which is a problem in a fiction that has such exaggerated characters.

It's packed with fun action sequences and amusing dialogue with an entertaining storyline that makes you feel like you have stepped into his world. Such brilliant execution is only matched by how well developer Teyon has captured the sense of the character, never depicting RoboCop as someone who can run, jump or mantle, but rather as the hulking tank of a law enforcer he is.It may not be appropriate for all ages, but it’s true to the R-rated source material, and here it is ratcheted up to a degree that is humorous and over the top rather than gratuitous and excessive. The combat segments lack any challenge due to dense enemy AI for half of the game, the emotionless facial animations can be distracting, and the general pacing of the game may be a turn-off for those expecting RoboCop: Rogue City to be a pure-action game. While I love the Downtown area, I was getting tired of it by the third revisit, and the game would benefit from a second hub area to explore in the latter half. In the footage, RoboCop roots out a drug den in the basement of an arcade through some very light detective work. Most importantly, it's a fun way to spend time in a beloved fictional universe that doesn’t overstay its welcome.
