About this deal

If a "Draw 2" card is drawn, the player then draws another card from the draw pile and may use this card as if it were a normal turn. Players must replace any power cards in the 4 with the first number card that they receive from the draw pile. The game does include some hidden information (the cards in the middle) and requires some decision making (whether to press your luck to get better cards or end the round early so your opponents can’t build a better hand than you).

The last type of power card is the “draw 2” card, which gives you the ability to draw one card and decide whether or not you want to keep it. If you’re after more easy but fun card games for your kids to play, consider reading the Nertz Card game rules, Blink card game rules, Golf card game rules or the Apples to Apple rules. Sidenote: Both the captions and the photo reply cards in this game can be used as homeschool writing prompts. Each player now knows the point values of two of his four cards and needs to remember them during the game. When a player discards a known card, we know that the card that the face up card they discarded was greater in value than the card they kept. The goal of the game is to have the lowest points, and that can prove difficult when you can’t see your cards! After all, not just any game is able to win the Mensa Select award, which Rat a Tat Cat managed in 1996. Learn the Trouble rules or read up on the Guess Who instructions, 2 classic board games designed for kids that have truly managed to stand the test of time. Note, my score of a three out of five is based on how much I actually liked it as an adult and serious gamer (and the grade I would give it for other adults). Power Cards have no point value, and they must be replaced by a card drawn from the draw pile at the end of the round. To view the purposes they believe they have legitimate interest for, or to object to this data processing use the vendor list link below. We cannot rely on this information since a player may not be playing optimally, but it should be the best move in most games. Teach your kids the Rat a Tat Cat rules to encourage their math development and also introduce them to card game skills from a young age.

Keep track of what you have so you won't accidentally replace your low point cards with high point cards. Players need to remember all their known cards and should attempt to replace their high numbered cards with lower ones. The game may also be played such that when a player exceeds a certain points total, either the game ends immediately and the winner for the fewest points total is declared or that player is eliminated and the game continues until one player remains and is declared the winner. or “I know I’m going to regret this” or “It seemed like a good idea at the time” or “That’s going to leave a mark” and each player selects her best photo for that round’s caption. It would also depend upon what happens when all remaining players lose at the same time (all players have 100+ points).

The top card of the draw pile is turned over to start the discard pile (unless it is a power card in which case it is placed back in the deck and a new card is turned over). The last player has the least incentive of knocking out, since if they do, each other player will have taken one more turn than they have. It will quickly teach them to be competitive, strategic, and they must learn to memorize their cards if they want to be the winner. Since you could draw a nine (and really hurt your score for the round), you always want to get rid of any power cards you know you have (since it is quite risky to rely on a random draw). However, if you decide to set up a simulation, you'll need to make assumptions so perhaps your assumption is worth making just to keep the simulation simple enough that it won't take hundreds of hours of your time.

If you would like to change your settings or withdraw consent at any time, the link to do so is in our privacy policy accessible from our home page. Since there aren’t a lot of mechanics, it’s probably only a game you’ll dig out every so often as quick filler but it’s enjoyable enough. This is an almost perfect game for kids which will teach them a few things and build some skills while also entertaining them. However, you cannot look at the card you are giving or the card you are getting (it’s a blind swap). The bottom player had a power card as one of the middle cards so it was replaced by the top card from the draw pile (a 9).
