About this deal

The ones that you can get new today the software from what I read might be not as great but the scans comes out reasonably sharp. There's no clear text labels to most of the buttons, it crashed on several occasions and there is no clear help information at all. The slower PrimeFilm lens does not have the same ability to resolve fine detail but the lens will have more depth of field. If you check off all these, you should get and run the downloadable package (extract it if necessary), and follow the displayed instructions for a complete and successful installation. You should know that the 3000 dpi models seem to use a very similar lens to the one used inside the 10,000 dpi models!

I use an LED light panel to illuminate my film, then a Leica SL full frame digital camera to take a photo of the film at 1:1, using a Schneider Kreuznach Componon S 50mm enlarging lens and extension tubes. I have a CoolScan V on loan, and own a Reflecta ProScan 7200 (in the meantime replaced with a newer model which is still available new today; in the US the brand name is Pacific Images), so I have been able to compare them using the exact same slides and negatives, using VueScan to operate both.Though, unlike a monotonous pixel grid, film grain can look interesting, telling, or fascinating, which isn’t bad to have as an option. It goes without saying that Silverfast is a “use at your own risk” software suite, and it really does take a few hours in the saddle to get comfortable with the more powerful features of the software. Plustek bundles this scanner with Silverfast Ai Studio 8; a very powerful yet horribly designed piece of software.

party software support- Bundles Lasersoft Imageing SilverFast SE 8, which gives users another optioin. html They found the scanner to reach almost 90% of the claimed resolution, which is really unusual since most scanners fail to produce even 50% of the distributor's resolution claims. I looked into the Reflecta Crystal Scan 3600, also known as the PrimeFilm 3650u, after reading a test posted on the Filmscanner. If you are thinking about looking into any of the other Pacific image/Reflecta scanners, the list below should help save you time. Optical is the more important value to consider as it does not involve any interpolation algorithms. But if you’re the type of shooter that’s interested in more than just sharing photos on social media or the web, then a consistent and reliable scanner is of paramount importance. Since either the film stays completely stationary(slide holder) or it ONLY moves the film itself(strip holder) and the film stays completely stationary while scanning, it's also faster and quieter than the 8000 for 35mm in my experience too. This model’s multipass scanning technology helps capture fine details, highlights, and shadows accurately, while the simple software interface eliminates traditional learning curve headaches. No matter the size of your slides, negatives, or printed photos, the Epson Perfection V859 Pro can handle it with a simplified workflow and impressive clarity. You can even initialize your ViewScan or SilverFast’s “Scan” command with the physical button, though I found it may cause issues in some cases.

Digital noise reduction- Isolate and manage noise/grain in both highlight and shadow areas without sacrificing image detail.words] A slightly scaled-back version of the Plustek 8200i, the 8100 is still robust and capable for home or professional slide and negative scanning. The star of this test was the Nikon LS-3510AF lens, an awesome performer that costs less than the PF10K! The larger the Dmax, more detail the scanner is able to extract from the deepest, darkest shadows of film. Plustek scanners are famous for having great dust control, and the OpticFilm 120 affirms that reputation nicely. If you have any experience with this scanner, let us know how things worked out for you when you get a sec.

But in the real world optical resolution of any scanner is the combined resolution of lens, film transport and sensor. Another one of Plustek’s print scanners, the OpticFilm 8100 offers 7200 dpi optical resolution and more accurate color in your images through its light sources. The Epson Perfection V39 II Color Photo and Document Flatbed Scanner is a versatile unit for home and professional use.
