My rating is completely pointless, though, as I've been reading One Piece since I was 9 and I still think it's a masterpiece.

The Buggy chronicles starts to make Buggy a compelling character, the Koby story is pretty important and interesting, the Django story is fun and a riot, and the Hachi one is sweet and surprisingly hits well. Pictures would be more useful than my descriptions alone, so I'll upload some and add them to this review at a later date.Oda's other achievement is to have planned for an epic manga - by having his pirate protagonist sail along a great circle ('Grand Line') the reader remains engaged in the journey, while the mangaka can create additional islands or routes to pace the journey as desired. Romance Dawn: 8/10; I love the Luffy origin story stuff, and it’s great to see some of the seeds that get planted so early and Zoro’s introduction. I felt relieved when Luffy defeated the fish-men and I felt like I wanted to read more of one piece because it is a very big series and I got hooked into it a lot.

Not only does Zoro vs Mihawk really expand the world in a subtle but great way, but Luffy vs the Don is a great matchup really showing off how cowardly some pirates fight. Sets up Coby and Helmeppo casually, the Marines as a if not corrupt then definitely doubtful organization and Zoro as an absolute badass. I love Chopper, but I think Wapol is super annoying and not a threat at all, so the tension is really weird and it feels like Wapol should've been an enemy even before Arlong. I will be honest and say I skipped Coby and Alvida's introductions, cause I've read those chapters so many times and I'm not a big fan of them. The box looks quite nice and is strong enough to provide an extra layer of protection for your books.He strikes perfect balance with his characters that are so colourful and camp while not totally ridiculous; the stuff he comes up with is terribly imaginative and charming, be it the powers, animals like the bowing bear (my absolute favourite), the world or the characters.
