About this deal

This does make loading a little different, but I will get onto that in the loading and firing section. The priming handle is usually locked into position as soon as you prime, waiting for you to pull the firing trigger and shoot. When you pull the priming handle back and then push it forward again, it primes the spring and you are ready to fire. This is probably the sweet spot in the Rival range right now, and certainly the best option for the stealthy approach, thanks to its lack of motor noise. I have no idea why so few of the Rival range have these, the Apollo would have made an excellent secondary if you could suitable stow it during the game for example.

The speed and accuracy with which the Rival rounds pop out is going to be quite a revelation if this is your first step up from NERF’s dart-firing blasters. I was half expecting the Artemis to also fall foul of gimmicks over function with its spinning barrels and fixed magazines, but having used it for a little while I can safely say, I love it! Each time you prime the Artemis, there are four short ‘barrels’ that rotate on the front, which doesn’t seem to serve any purpose, but looks fun. If you are empty and load just one magazine it dry fire the first few rounds as the Ferris wheel will be empty. Firing is the real thrill of the Nerf Rival Battles, although the firing performance always depends on the specification of the NERF blaster. Across the top are three clear plastic tubes that carry the ammo, and they’re accessed by sliding back a section of the blaster that covers the loading chamber.

It has enough ammo that you are unlikely to run out in a single melee and it is easier to reload than it is to reload a magazine (especially the one like the Khaos!

Since I love to be on the move, this makes it an excellent blaster for my style of play as it is small, light, can be slung and does not have any of the noise or delay before firing of flywheel blasters. Just slide that top section back, and start popping 10 rounds into each of the tubes until you’ve got your full complement of 30, then slide the cover forward again. Over the years, the world of NERF blasters has evolved quite a bit, with better and more sophisticated blaster systems being released on a regular basis. The Artemis XVII-3000 uses a rotation mechanism to turn the turret; there is a cam track surrounding the revolving turret which gets indexed by a slide.

Loading, firing, and ignition also work perfectly, and the weight is efficiently balanced when you hold it in your hand.At the front is the cool rotating barrel thing, which rotates the four barrels every time you prime it.

NERF Rival Artemis Review - We Put The XVII-3000 Through Its

You don’t need to aim, just slam fire and the speed and ricochets of the Rival ammo will take out your opponents before they have the chance to move. Like other RIVAL blasters, it has a safety feature that can be activated via a switch on the left side, just above the firing trigger. The Prometheus MXVIII-20K is a flywheel blaster with a removable hopper that holds up to 240 rounds of ammunition.Sure, you don’t get rapid automatic firing from a springer like this one, but to counter that you don’t have to worry about motor whirr giving away your position. Pump the priming handle back all the way and then forward again, and you’re ready to fire – if the safety’s off, of course.
