About this deal

The combination of an exciting story and engaging illustrations will make this an often requested read-aloud by young superheroes!

Eliot Jones Midnight Superhero - English | Teaching Resources Eliot Jones Midnight Superhero - English | Teaching Resources

This book is a great way for children to live out there superhero dreams vicariously through this little boy. It seems that Max is just an ordinary boy, until finally, to save a falling baby bird, Max discovers he can fly! Excellent use of capital letters, conjunctions, adjectives like blue and white and I have also spotted exclamation marks!

Grandpa suggests they start by recycling the yoghurt pot from his breakfast, putting his banana peel in the compost pile, and hanging the washing to dry in the sun. Even villains like Professor Von Evil and the flaming Eyeballs are no match for this caped crusader. With x-ray vision, super speed and bravery by the bag-load, Superkid is always on hand to save the day! She washes a pile of dirty, sticky dishes in less than five seconds and folds all her crispy clean laundry in the blink of an eye! It is a really nice book to read and has good comic like illustrations which fit with the superhero theme (the students were amused by how big the characters heads were).

Finlay, five years old, says: "I loved Eliot the Midnight Superhero because I want my dreams to be like that. One day Eliot receives an urgent message from the world’s Most Important Scientists: a giant meteor is hurtling towards Earth!

It is a lovely story about being more than other people think you are and about being all that you want to be. Just like some heros those around Eliot did not know that at midnight he was a superhero saving the town and flying jets. Eliot tames a runaway zoo lion, tows a ship to safety, recovers stolen jewels, travels in a supersonic jet to Tibet, and even stops a meteor from destroying the earth. Though this book seems like it was made for a 8-10 year old, it had the grammatical writing for children with academics leading up to my age.

You will find many creative activities based on each book to make reading even more enjoyable and interactive. It's a fun story with a repetitive structure and lovely sentence starters/connectives which make it perfect for learning off by heart and retelling. He will need all of these abilities as he faces his greatest challenge of saving the world from a meteor! Week 3 - Poem - Using suffix est, children will create their own superhero and explain what they can do in a poem.He travels around the world, he works for the mayor and the queen, and he gets to have some great adventures. I personally got very enthusiastic about drawing the superhero vegetable and am taking full credit for Karate Carrot, Harrisons idea was the numchucks and cape. Spark their imagination by describing superheroes, dressing up and creating gadgets, as well as writing about superpowers. Children will take delight in the amazing and varied super powers of Sam's dad and parents will take delight in some of the humor placed throughout the tale. Told from the point of view of Sam, it is a fun story that ends on a warm fuzzy note that is just perfect for bedtime.
