About this deal

It is spring by the time they emerge - they'd gotten lost in the swirling mists and had fallen asleep under glittering stars. Best way I can explain it is that if that book is for coffee drinkers, this one is for tea drinkers.

This is the uplifting, beautifully illustrated story of two beloved friends as they journey through the seasons of the year together, into the wild, exploring the thoughts and emotions, hardships and happiness that connect us all. Dan Bunyard, Michael Joseph’s nonfiction publishing director, said that he “was instantly keen” and that the book’s “messages about self-belief, self-value, individual freedom and social connection” immediately chime with people. but this one is contained of a journey (the reasons or destinations, were not quite mentioned) with small inspiring quotes.Books like this I find to hard to comment on - even if they are more my personal views rather than professional in-depth reviews.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we do not use a simple average. On their way into the wild they often find themselves lost, and while not knowing where they are, they discover many beautiful sights they'd never have found if they'd gone the right way. however, when flipping the book to the back cover, was dismay to find a sticker pasted across the barcode, what was worse is when the sticker was removed, it showed the book was for sale in the indian subcontinent only at 799 rupees vs 25SGD paid for. Inspired by Buddhist philosophy and spirituality, the story of these whimsical characters makes the perfect gift for anyone looking for a little hope and comfort. Some people have even said they didn’t take their own lives because the pictures had given them new ways to look at things. This graphic novel is just a series of drawings with some text, which ranges from silly to reflective, even poignant. His first love was animals and he studied zoology at Swansea University, wanting to become a park ranger, but finding a job proved impossible.

In nature they learn how to live in the moment, how to be at peace with uncertainty, and how to find the strength to overcome life's obstacles, together. The pages are thick so it looks like the book will stand the test of time… I hope that when my son grows up, he keeps this as an “heirloom” and a reminder of the time we were all holed up due to this pandemic (which has its own shout-out in the author’s Afterword).

Full of the Buddhist thoughts and teachings that helped the author/illustrator overcome some of his own darkest times, and presented in an engaging, illustrated format with two characters you can’t help but grow to care for, this is a book that will leave you feeling a little bit better about the world, and yourself, than you did before you read it. One of the factors that really pushed this work forward was after I started volunteering on the phones for Samaritans talking to people who find it hard to cope with life. Norbury said: “As soon as my advances come through, I will look to get a house with some land so I can start a sanctuary.

Once I have a fully realized idea, I work out how to put it into simple words that cut to the core of the issue and are hopefully something that viewers won’t find cryptic or irrelevant. My boys and I read a few pages each night, then we have wonderful, in-depth discussions around some of the topics.

This is a hard subject to talk about as it’s difficult to discuss what we perceive as our inadequacies. We all have great wisdom deep down, but it can be a hushed voice and gets easily drowned out by modern living. It features two friends, who often find themselves lost, but discover beautiful sights that they never would have found if they had gone the right way. I think, however, that a lot of people might feel the same as me and I wanted people to see my drawings and feel better about things. Feel the calming influence of Big Panda, who reminds us of the bigger picture while appreciating the simplicity of small moments.
