I fervently hope that Sanderson follows this novel up to get on with the unfinished business and tie up the loose ends that the end of the book leaves us at. Due to his uncle's inadequate financial operations, Wax is trying to save House Ladrian from bankruptcy. Then they kill a retired constable, prepare to fire on the crowd, try to take Marasi, and do take Steris. He sets up a scenario and delivers a great yarn, then with the next book reveals all is not as it seems.Marasi brings down the Lurcher with her rifle, but the Coinshot forces Wax and Marasi back into the warehouse. In part due to The Alloy of Law's positive reception, however, Brandon plotted out a new trilogy to continue to the story from The Alloy of Law, which he now considers to be Era 2; he still also plans a modern trilogy and a space opera one.

Wayne: I thought of you happy in a comfy bed, resting and relaxing, spending the rest of your life sipping tea and reading papers while people bring you food and maids rub your toes and stuff. The Cameo: Hoid, Sanderson's Legacy Character who appears in every other book in the overarching multiverse of his setting, briefly appears at the wedding party, though not directly referenced by name, instead being mentioned as a shabby-looking fellow in black who might have been a beggar. He slipped a short-barreled shotgun into its inner pocket, then buckled on his gun belt and moved the Sterrions into the holsters at his hips. Waxillium Ladrian is a House Lord, a Twinborn who can Push with his Allomancy and use Feruchemy to become lighter or heavier at will.

In the ensuing battle, Vin's earring is torn out of her ear, finally allowing her to absorb the power of the mists. While the story is entertaining enough, I found it a bit, well, pretentious and a bit cheesy if I'm honest. You don’t need to have read the previous three books to understand this one, nor do you need to have read them to enjoy The Alloy of Law. Some saw him as a mysterious scion of the Ladrian family, associated with strange stories of the realms beyond the mountains.

Going back to make another and Wayne suddenly declares, passively, that the tea is poisoned before collapsing to the floor. He has to restrain himself from pulling out a gun, but Wax assures his uncle that he will one day kill him. Although still torn between his previous life as a lawman and his obligations to House Ladrian, Wax declines to join him. The characters aren't as powerful or versatile as the old true Mistborns, but within that constraint there's a lot of intricate and detailed use of the skills they have available which makes for interesting visualisations of how they achieve things.Wax and Lady Steris come to an agreement to marry after several months of courting, and to introduce themselves as a couple to the elite society. He closed his eyes, taking the air in and out, feeling the faint wetness of the mists on the skin of his face.

Marasi has had them in a cadmium bubble (slowing down time for those inside), allowing the constabulary to get there and arrest Miles. Library Journal praised it as "highly recommended for fantasy fans, especially followers of the original trilogy" and that it "is not a stale visit to a fondly remembered setting" in its starred review of it. Due to the emotional stress associated with seeing one's alternate past, gold is not a very useful metal. Miles notices the length of string tied to the back of the door from the interior of the safe, shortly before Wax, hidden inside, pulls the string tight, setting off the dynamite taped to the back of the door. Unfortunately, the Ironspine was built in set-back tiers, the upper stories growing progressively narrower as you went higher.If you’re looking something that will appeal to young adults, try Steelheart, Mistborn, or The Rithmatist. Kick the Dog: The Vanishers should NOT have shot the old constable offering himself as a hostage in exchange for Marasi and Steris.
