Being a witch doesn’t mean you have to practice witchcraft or curse people. You don’t have to announce to the world that you have now taken up the mantle of a witch. You could express it in the smallest of ways: become aware of the moon cycles, grow herbs, and begin to live a more natural, greener life. No one has to know that you are growing into the true expression of the real you: the witch that is desperate to emerge. I’m less opposed to the idea of a three-part soul: the Lower Self (the animal soul and the unconscious mind), the Middle Self (the conscious mind), and the Higher Self (the spirit, the God-soul). This concept is grounded in the psychological work of Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung, and it’s common in many magical traditions, especially those with roots in the late 19 th and early 20 th centuries. It’s proven to be useful, especially the related concepts of soul alignment and true will – I have no issues or concerns with any of the exercises in this section. This work failed to live up to its title. I expected exercises to help me hone psychic abilities. I expected advanced techniques of witchcraft. I received neither.
