About this deal

How likely is it that Catherine was describing an actual past-life experience? Let’s evaluate the evidence. The experience of death is not uncommon in Catherine's hypnotic state, and it remains the same always, as it should. It has been described rather conveniently, with the soul descending up in bright light. A luminous floating soul is the most convenient image Dr. Weiss could have conjured up. Hi Jon, I appreciate you critique its quite mind provoking. Am a Psychology student and as I sit in class and listen to Schizophrenia explained and other Mental/Psychological health issues. First appreciate Dr Weiss's own admission that he had strong temptations to verify the material using science, but the thrill was too strong especially when an aspect of his own life is brought into picture by Catherine. For me he did his work and for Great men and women of our century he gave us a challenge to go further and prove that the spirit world really exists. Reincarnation is actually mentioned in the bible but Christians only see and hear what they want i.e. First Adam fell to sin, Jesus, second Adam. Thats what Dr Weiss has made plain. Jesus taught about John the Baptist being the spirit of Elijah made strong and more resolute to serve. I don't personally believe in reincarnation but I would like to go further. The spiritual beings called "the Masters" that Catherine seems to act as a medium for seemed too far fetched and fabricated. They seemed like characters out of a movie, almost too stereotypically New Age-like to be believed. I apologize if I keep repeating myself, but I just didn't believe any of it, and attributed their experience to the mysteries of the mind, not the soul. Perhaps their intense togetherness (Dr. Weiss and Catherine) created some psychological relief. What may have cured Catherine was Dr. Weiss's determination to make her better, his love and care for her! What animals make plans for industry, transport, schools, hospitals and libraries? The standard of living of the average ant hasn’t ever improved..yet humans have made huge strides to improve their way of life. If describing humans as being worse than animals is wisdom that Dr Weiss believes truly comes from “masters” of the universe, then it doesn’t seem so wise or enlightened to me.

I cannot quite put into words my utter detestation for the book, it's author, and all or most of mankind! Given to skepticism all my life I was always weary of any mention of this book. I would always argue that since this book has been around for a good long time and since we are yet to discover all that much compelling evidence about reincarnation, there's probably a snag somewhere. Which is why until recently I never thought about actually reading it. Many Lives, Many Masters is a groundbreaking book written by renowned psychiatrist Dr. Brian Weiss. First published in 1988, this thought-provoking book presents a captivating account of Dr. Weiss's experiences with his patient, Catherine. In the book, Dr. Weiss documents his initial skepticism towards past-life therapy and the extraordinary sessions that transformed his perspective on life and the concept of reincarnation. Catherine, a young woman suffering from anxiety and phobias, underwent hypnosis during her therapy sessions, leading to her regression into past lives. Moreover, Many Lives, Many Masters offers profound insights into spirituality, the nature of the soul, and the purpose of life. Dr. Weiss beautifully explores the idea that we are eternal beings on a journey of continuous growth and transformation, highlighting the interconnectedness of past and present lives. By delving into his patient's past lives, Dr. Weiss unveils the profound influence that these experiences can have on one's present circumstances, relationships, and emotional well-being.What is important about this book is the message given to him throughout the sessions with Catherine. Whether there is proper scientific scrutiny, that doesn’t really matter—if you want that, there’s also plenty of academic papers online where you can read on the topic. For example, why not release the recordings of the sessions with the patient? Or at least, prove that the patient really existed? How are we to know that this wasn’t simply a work of fiction? It’s impossible to tell from what has been written. It could have all been made up, only first names have been used. Dr Weiss made no attempts to verify the astounding claims made by his patient, Catherine.

Patience and timing … everything comes when it must come. A life cannot be rushed, cannot be worked on a schedule as so many people want it to be. We must accept what comes to us at a given time, and not ask for more. – Many Lives, Many Masters by Brian L. This one of worst books l'v ever read. Where is the scientific evidence that the auther insisted that he used throughout the whole book? Who are Catherine? he doesn't know anything about her and he insisted that she is not actresses or not making up anything, he doesn't even collect information about her?or asked any of her friends about her personality. I went out to the waiting room to greet her, and we shook hands. I noticed that hers were cold and damp, confirming her anxiety. Actually, it had taken her two months of courage gathering to make an appointment to see me even though she had been strongly advised to seek my help by two staff physicians, both of whom she trusted. Finally, she was here. This article is an excerpt from the Shortform book guide to "Many Lives, Many Masters" by Brian L. Weiss. Shortform has the world's best summaries and analyses of books you should be reading. Nasrin makes the best point so far in this entire thread: "Many things cannot be proven by science, simply because science has not progressed enough."
