About this deal

This is the only magnetic numeral set that 6 and 9 use different molds. The mold for 9 has a straight line, while 6's mold is curved. I own 240 numerals of this set (241 including the blue 2), the most out of any magnetic numeral set. The Learning Resources Jumbo Magnetic Numbers have transformed my classroom into a dynamic and interactive learning environment. They have reignited my students' enthusiasm for numbers and counting, providing a solid foundation for their math skills. Witnessing Emma's journey and the overall positive impact on my students' learning experiences has been incredibly rewarding. When teaching basic addition, I use magnetic counters that can be used on the whiteboard to illustrate a problem (i.e., 2+5=7). Students use two-sided counting chips to solve another similar problem at the carpet. Before we start a lesson, students are given time to explore the tub of math manipulatives for that day. I limit my suggestions as to what they should do with them, as I want to encourage creativity and mathematical thinking.

Class sixes are sill valuable and rare, but not in comparison to class 7 sets. It is also the highest class obtainable by an alphabet set.Number lines are important for many number concepts, such as counting, sequencing, and number recognition. Students can be taught how to solve addition and subtraction problems by jumping up or down the number line. Provide students with a number line, such as these personal number lines. Use a large number line to display on a bulletin board for class demonstrations. A human number line can be created on the floor with tape and used for practice and games, like the Human Number Line Game explained here. One of each" refers to one of each letter (A-Z) or decimal digit unless specified (like some of my own designs have transdecimal digits/numerals, or other symbols), as the vast majority of sets are "decimal-centric".

Like many other sets, these numbers, letters and symbols come in six classic colors: red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple.Aside from Emma's personal triumph, the magnetic numbers have consistently engaged and captivated the entire class. The bold colors and large size make them highly visible for all students, even from a distance. The jumbo magnets adhere well to our whiteboard, allowing for interactive lessons and group activities. The kids eagerly take turns arranging the numbers, creating their own number sequences and solving simple math problems. Several shapes and symbols were also included in the set.

Since 2018, I have been attempting to find a new set of megcos magnetic numbers, or other branded magnetic numbers using the same mold. Because of that, the Early Learning Center numerals were obtained in 2021. While teacher supply stores have excellent quality math manipulatives, they are often expensive. If you can get your school to fund your classroom supply, then go this route. Lakeshore Learning has endless types and varieties of manipulatives and wonderful games that would fulfill your needs. Several sets have been obtained during this period, and some older sets have obtained their dozenal/transdecimal extension since my adaption to Argam and the dozenal and sexagesimal bases. 3D-printed sets have also been produced. The Windmill Books "Food" magnetic numbers and uppercase letters were obtained in late 2020 also as an attempt to replicate the Megcos magnetic numerals (see above), as well as to boost the magnetic collection. 90 numerals (9 each), 72 letters (8 A's, 4 E's, G's, I's, O's, S's and U's, and 2 of the rest) and 21 symbols (3 of each: plus, minus, times, division, equals, long bar and long division sign) were obtained.Students use math manipulatives at their workspace to complete their work. We have math centers set up that incorporate manipulatives to use during their work. I also give students “free time” to grab a bin of math manipulatives to explore on their own or in small groups. This is where some of the most incredible findings happen. I occasionally put a problem on the board for students to complete with a math bin of their choosing. This encourages the “real world” problem solving when they must think of the most appropriate tool and try different ones out through trial and error. Examples of How to Use Math Tools

As a teacher with many years of experience incorporating math manipulatives into my lessons, I appreciate how useful they are in helping me teach different math concepts. Many items can be used in multiple ways. I enjoy watching children have “lightbulb” moments when they finally understand an idea thanks to the tools they are using. I am ecstatic when children are exploring with a tub of manipulatives, and they discover something new, a pattern, or a way of use. How to Use Math Manipulatives Math Manipulatives During Lessons Quality of the numerals are good, however the digit "9" could not stand up despite the set's intention for every numeral to be able to stand up. However this may just be a molding issue. Unifix cubes are the colored cubes that connect in one way, and snap cubes are colored cubes that can connect in different ways. Both can be used in many ways to teach many math concepts, such as patterning, place value, and measurement. Snap cubes are one of the most used math manipulatives. They visually demonstrate many number concepts, such as counting, grouping, adding, and taking away. Children love snapping the cubes together to make number “trains.” Sometimes, symbols ( + − × ÷ = {\displaystyle +-\times \div =} etc.) are included along with the numbers. They count in the corresponding numeral set (without mentioning that symbols are included). They are counted (and sometimes stored) separately. Classes three and four are the "typical" sets of numbers you can find, which they are just "there" and don't stand out in any shape or form. The only difference between the classes are that class four sets tend to have better quality and aesthetics.

Customer reviews

When teaching counting or identifying numbers to 100, I use a large 100’s chart and a pointer. We take turns pointing to the numbers as we practice counting by 1’s, 2’s, 5’s, and 10’s. Students use small 100’s charts to point and follow along as we count, or they locate different numbers given orally. It is also noticed that in this period, the quality of newer molds and numeral sets have begun to decline; i.e. it is more difficult to find set of a higher class. Manufacturers have changed to using molds simply based on common modern typefaces.
