About this deal

Both Outdoor and Dishwasher Safe Mod Podge have higher levels of water resistance than the other formulas. If you want the most water protection, then make sure you try these options first! IF you decide you would like to paint your glass, there are four methods I see regularly: spray paint, glass paint, chalk paint, and colored Mod Podge. I get into each method below. You will also need a quarter teaspoon of olive oil if you want a slightly glossy finish, and a quarter teaspoon of vinegar if you want to avoid any mold developing. Find a clean glass or plastic jar that can hold around 355 ml, and ensure it has a very tight-fitting lid.

Use a paint scraper to remove any stubborn remnants of Mod Podge. Try not to use too much force; you just want to scrape away the excess adhesive.Acrylic Sealers:If you need a strong sealer to spray on top of your finished project, these come in Gloss, Matte, Pearlized (which has a bit of shimmer), and Super Gloss. If you decide to use acrylic paint, you’ll need to be sure to use a multi-surface or enamel paint specifically for glass. My favorites are FolkArt Multisurface, FolkArt Enamel, and Delta Multisurface. There are plenty of other glass paint brands as well (Pebeo, Jacquard). Just make sure to read the bottle. Chalk Paint Charlene Lewis has been working for artincontext.org since the relaunch in 2020. She is an experienced writer and mainly focuses on the topics of color theory, painting and drawing.

After your glue has completely drained into the jar, you can add the 112.5 ml of water and stir well until the two ingredients are properly combined. This homemade mod podge will produce a matte finish. So, if you want it to be glossy, you can add the varnish to the mixture or add the glitter if you want a glitter finish. If you want the item to stay outdoors– like windchimes or gazing orbs – you’ll use Outdoor Mod Podge. A Mod Podge helps protect the vinyl decal from washing in the dishwasher for many years to come. Mod Podge can withstand various water pressures of different dishwashers brand . There is a massive difference between a normal paint brush and varnish brush. Invest in the right tools and you will never have streaks. If you don’t have a varnish brush to hand then you can use a soft bristle brush to apply the finish to the surface.
