About this deal

The buggy board attaches easily to the frame of the stroller with a simple connector. The strap wraps around the tubing of the stroller. When you need to fold the stroller, the board detaches simply and you are ready to fold your stroller, with the connectors still attached. When you are ready to use the stroller, simply attach the buggy board again, and you’re ready to go. Most buggy boards are suitable from 2-years-old but the Roma Uptown Rider can be used from 12 months - great if you have a small gap between your babes. However, it’s not as versatile as a dual purpose ride-on like the BumpRider Sit Stroller Board, because this is only a seat and offers no function as a standing board. Lascal has produced a good quality, solid board, with a non-slip surface to help your child travel safely. It can be hooked out of the way when not in use for short periods or you can completely remove it with ease.

The Bumprider Stroller Board offers impressive suspension for a comfortable ride along with an ergonomic non-slip surface to prevent your toddler from tumbling off in transit. This buggy board is also easy to fold away with a safety strap or disconnect when not in use. As the name suggests, the mini board is a compact model making it more suitable for for umbrella-fold type strollers. The BuggyBoard Maxi, on the other hand, is perfect for larger strollers; it comes with BIGGER WHEELS that helps raise the board, and also makes it easier going over bumpy ground. The connectors are made to fit square, oval or round tubing with a maximum circumference of 20 cm (8 in.). No wheel axle required. The non-slip surface will keep your child stable during your travels. Like most of the buggy boards on our list, can handle a maximum weight of 20kg.

About the author

Innovative, easy to use and highly versatile, the Maxi works with 99% of the prams and strollers available today. Meaning you can ditch your plans for a cumbersome double buggy and give your tot more freedom to explore their world from the comfort of their ride-on platform. You can get a scooter that attaches to the mountain buggy. So he can scoot along and then attach when tired.” - recommended by Mumsnet user, Caspianberg Our verdict The Lascal Maxi is a standing board which doesn’t come with a seat. However, there’s an option to buy a compatible ‘saddle’, which can be bought separately if you decide your child would be happier sitting down. The saddle doesn’t come cheap so you’d have to factor this into the overall price if you want a seated buggy board. When compared to the other seated buggy board on our list, the BumpRider Sit Stroller Board, the Lascal Maxi works out as being quite a bit more expensive. While the Maxi is essentially a moulded bit of plastic with plastic accessories to match, the build quality is exceptional. Combined with the innovative Max-Comfort suspension system, your child won’t be bouncing around but will enjoy a smooth ride. Lascal and Bumprider are two kid boards that fit pretty much all strollers, so you can't really go wrong there.” - tried and tested by Mumsnet user, eliniatko Our verdict Even standing up can be tiring for your child if you go out for long walks. While the Maxi covers all the basics and more, the Maxi+ takes your child’s experience to the next level as they can sit on the saddle too. PROS: Universal product (Maxi size fits all strollers but Mini size fits only small lightweight strollers such as Combi) The term buggy board officially refers to the Lascal Buggy Board, which was the very first board manufactured to be attached to a buggy. Most pushchair brands offer their own buggy board but you can also choose from a wide range of universal buggy boards designed to fit most types of pram. The BuggyBoard® Maxi adds an extra-large anti-slip platform, higher ground clearance, and superior suspension to the design of the Mini. This allows for extra room for the caregiver’s feet, improved control over rough ground, and a secure grip for the child.

You will notice a slight rattle as you move along the pavement, but it doesn’t affect the Maxi’s performance all round. Different design options Super grippy” is the only way to showcase how good the anti-slip platform really is. With its extra-wide standing space to the protective sidebars, your toddler can ride safely on board regardless of the terrain. Safety first A buggy board with a seat may work well for you if your older child is still relatively young and is likely to get tired and cranky if they have to stand on a buggy board for any considerable time. A dual purpose buggy board such as the BumpRider Sit Stroller Board offers versatility because it can be used as a seat or as a stand-on buggy board, depending on your needs. This special edition version in snazzy leopard print adds a fashionable touch to proceedings too - great for standing out from the crowd at your local toddler group. Parents on our Mumsnet talk boards often discuss the merits of buggy boards and are always keen to report on the best performing products - and the ones that fall short of expectations too. We've collated a list of the best buggy boards that Mumsnetters have tried, tested and rave about to put together this handy guide. For scooter mode, you turn the rear wheel into the fixed position. To allow for manoeuvrability when it’s attached to the buggy, you can turn it for a 360 degree swivel function. There are light up, colourful wheels and an adjustable handlebar that houses four height options, from 68cm (26 inches) to 90cm (35inches) so it will grow with your child. As a scooter, it can handle up to 50kg of weight or 20kg as a buggy board when attached to a pushchair. The BuggyBoard has been designed with functionality in mind, so our illustrative examples are intended to show you that the BuggyBoard can be mounted successfully onto almost every pushchair model.

Mum-of-two Louise Baty has been a journalist for almost 20 years and covers parenting, health and lifestyle for consumer print and online publications. It is important that any child using the BuggyBoard has enough space to stand comfortably. However, due to the number of combinations possible across pushchair brands (regarding positioning of carrycots, whether seats are forward/rear facing, the ability of the pushchair handle to slide out, accessories you may have attached etc.) we are unable to illustrate everything. Only you can recognise if your child has enough space to stand comfortably. Read next: How to clean a pram, including tried-and-tested tips from Mumsnetters What's the best buggy board?

When it comes to attaching it to your buggy, the Baby Jogger Glider Board is easy to fit. It can also be flipped and clipped away when not in use and it won’t stop you folding your buggy when attached either. Like the Oyster board though, this board designed to fit only one brand of pushchairs, which means that it won’t be of use if you don't have a Baby Jogger design. This board is recommended from 18 months - a little younger than many boards which are only deemed suitable from two years and up - so it’s ideal if you have a small gap between your kids. The Lascal BuggyBoard® line includes several options to accommodate different needs and preferences. Lascal are the movers and shakers of the buggy board industry. So it’s no surprise that their products reflect the innovation and creativity that has been poured into their merch for the past three decades. The board is only meant to be used by one child at a time, its suitable for kids who’re around 2 years of age and above. The maximum recommended weight capacity of the board is 20 kg(44 lb). Mind you, at 20 kgs, it can make the stroller a bit hard to push around, although the board works fine and glides smoothly. The Lascal BuggyBoard Maxi is our favourite buggy board because it’s sturdy, easy to use and versatile as it fits more than 99% of pushchairs and can also be bought with a matching seat.
