Action refers to how high the strings sit off the fretboard. This height determines how hard you must press to hit the right notes. Action also controls the way the notes will sound. Bamboo can appear to be durable compared to other woods and shrinks a little, especially in areas with sweeter humidity. Therefore, this ukulele won’t tease your fingers when you play it. Personally, I adopt a middle ground and lift the string gently off the saddle and pull on it to make sure the bridge knot is cinched tight. Then I lift the string out of the nut slot and repeat the same at the tuning peg. Bass ukes are usually tuned the same as standard basses (E-A-D-G), so that makes them easy to use in a variety of practicing, rehearsal, or performance scenarios. A fretless instrument, compared to a fretted instrument, allows for more sliding and “in-between” notes compared to fretted instruments. Some might say they are a little harder to play, too.

To an extent, you can’t go wrong with any of the above instruments. They are all highly rated and users generally had a good experience with them. When they become hard to tune. I find that I have to tune an old set of strings much more often than a new one. Even when I can get them in tune, they still don’t sound quite right and the intonation is off.
When Should You Change Strings?
In terms of frets, if you’re handy, you may be able to file them down, replace them, or adjust them yourself. If not, it would be worth taking your instrument to a qualified tech.
