About this deal

Anyway, thank you so much for the home barber insight. It’s always good to know how a clipper performs in different work environments and conditions. I’m sure anyone looking to buy this for home use will appreciate your input greatly. You’ll enjoy its compactness, reliability, convenience, comfortability, and maneuverability when it comes to trimming hair or maintaining short haircuts. The Peanut makes it so easy for anyone to maintain a neat and well-kept haircut with sharp and crisp hairlines.

The quiet operation will keep kids from getting spooked. They may not even realize there is a clipper right by their ears until you start the haircut. The blade is sharp and has no problem cutting any hair. It is very lightweight and highly maneuverable. Great for problem areas like around the ears, under the nose, and around the mouth. It works great in these areas. A solid little trimmer.I personally wouldn’t use it as a primary clipper, as it is limited in some ways. Yes, you can do a whole haircut with one, but if you’re a barber, then time is money. It is small so it takes longer to do a haircut. When it comes to value, a lot of it comes from the accessories you get. In most cases, more accessories often mean a better haircut experience. Being the all-around amazing electric trimmer it is, the Peanut still suffers from a few disadvantages which we will also discuss here in this Wahl Peanut review. The main one would be its tendency to pull hair from time to time. I’m not saying you’ll experience this 100%, but – maybe due to its size, this Wahl trimmer does “chew” on strands.

For those of you who’re into lineups, achieving proper lines is very easy with the Peanut. Due to its light body and small size, the hair trimmer is highly maneuverable and will cater to all your crazy or not-so-crazy hair lining ideas. Without a guard the Peanut can be used as an edger around the beard. Just settle on a spot where you want the edge of the beard and then point the blade perpendicular to the skin. Basically, it can be used at a 90° angle for this. Go around the whole perimeter of the beard. Blade length is only 1 1/4″ inches wide which is quite small compared to other clippers. This smaller size is a real disadvantage when cutting hair when compared to wider clippers as it will take longer with a smaller blade. And if that’s not good enough, the trimmer’s tininess (4” in length) means that it can comfortably fit into any hand size. And that makes it a great hair clipper for cutting kids’ hair or barbers with small hands. Other Cool Features

What’s in the Box?

All in all, if you’re unsure whether Wahl Peanut is your trimmer, you should ask yourself these questions: If you want to leave the beard longer than that, you’ll have to do a clipper over comb technique. This just means you take as much hair in the comb as you want to cut and then slide the blade over it. Do this all around the beard. Once in a while, say every 4 weeks, you need to do a deeper clean and use a blade wash to really erase all the grime that has accumulated on the teeth of the blade. From dead skin cells , to sweat to hair styling products, these all slow down the blade and make the motor work harder. This eventually will lead to shortening the life of your Peanut. For starters, it’s lightweight; weighing around 0.25lbs (4oz) – probably the lightest professional hair trimmer available. Kind of noisy to operate, as it has a higher pitch noise with this small powerful motor than larger conventional clippers.

Please note that despite it having a decently powerful motor, this clipper is not recommended for heavy-duty work. I am also used to having a wider blade length especially for cutting hair. Another shortcoming of the Peanut is it has a narrower blade length. The blade is only 1 1/4″ inches wide while most clippers are 1 5/8″ inches wide. Thereby you are losing 3/8″ of an inch and this translates to a longer haircut as you are not able to cut the same amount of hair with a smaller blade. This does translate to a positive when using it on your face. As the smaller blade is easier to maneuver and you can trim more precisely as opposed to a wider blade. Yes, they aren’t T-shaped like most hair trimmers including the Andis T-Outliner, but the Peanut knows exactly how to get the job done. The simplest but most important thing you can do is just wipe off the hair from the blade with an old toothbrush. Do this before and after every haircut so there is no hair left sitting on the blade. The hair is acidic and will make the blade dull over time.Usually, professional Wahl Clippers tend to be rather bulky. For me, this is fine. I really like my clipper feeling solid while I’m cutting my hair. Other people prefer more compact choices. Wahl Peanut caters exactly to such tastes with its delicate, elegant twist. It’s a handy clipper that can also be easily used as a hair trimmer. As you might guess, thanks to its compact body, the Peanut is a wonderful candidate for the best hair trimmer for kids. Forget about it being a trimmer for men.

I have reviewed a lot of trimmers and clippers over the years and what I reach for the most is the Brio Beardscape. Hands down the best trimmer/clippers I have ever laid my hands on. So many options in hair cutting lengths, more than any other trimmer/clippers. Plus it is powerful and cordless and is a serious tool. Brio states this is the last trimmer you will ever need and I 100% agree. My favorite trimmer and I highly recommend it. The Brio Beardscape blows away the Wahl Peanut in every field. Powerful!!! For such a small and compact clipper it sure is powerful and hums right along with anything that is thrown at it. This Wahl trimmer’s 4″ body might be slightly “slippery” for people with bigger palms. In this case you might consider a more standard Wahl clipper like the cordless Magic Clip. The smaller blade allows you to trim facial hair more precisely than the standard larger blade would allow you.

Comments

The trimmer measures 4 inches long and it weighs only 4 ounces. The blade measure 1 1/4 inches wide. The motor is a rotary motor. This is powerful despite its very small size. It will not bog down at all no matter how much hair you throw at it. The cord is long enough and I never found myself wanting a longer cord. The power switch is recessed into the handle which makes accidentally turning it off almost impossible and a great feature. To summarise this Wahl Peanut review, the Peanut is the best professional hair trimmer if you’re after a compact machine, combined with immense power. If you want to be even more mobile with your trimmer, you can consider the Peanut’s cordless version.
