About this deal
Separately, since the unit already has an integrated power supply, only a standard IEC cable is stored to the right. There are 2 gain levels with the EX5, however, I kept the EX5 at high gain for most of my listening tests. The high gain is silent enough to run IEMs like the FiiO FH3 while having enough power to run my harder-to-drive headphones like my Audio Technica ADX5000, and my Sennheiser HD600.

The screen on the EX5 and the D30 Pro is pretty much the same as well, where the numbers and the displays are pretty much the same. The menu system and the remote control used on both devices are also the same, so it’s possible to operate both the EX5 and the D30 Pro using the same remote control. With a wider stage width and achieving a marginally clearer soundscape, the DX5 opened up into a more dynamic sounding component. Bluetooth This is not yet another DAC made to offer the best measurements at the expense of musicality, instead this time it seems that the engineers have done their homework into making it a real music playing machine.

I believe that only allowing menu access with the use of the remote control might have been a missed opportunity, particularly with the output mode. The result is that the Aurora headphone amplifier is on a higher level of sound quality and certainly more competitive than the DX5.

And it’s interesting to see that the partnership between these 2 companies has resulted in more than a dealership relationship. They have since collaborated to come up with a product that is on paper a very exciting set of features for not too many greens. The DX5 is bundled with the remote control, a Bluetooth antenna, a USB cable, a mains cable and a 6.35mm to 3.5mm adapter plus a user manual. There's no premium grade components. You won't find things like OPA1612. All op amps in the signal path are LM4562. Sound(overall) These final impressions were done off the SH-6 attached to the SU-6 via RCA. This will be what the SU/SH-6 sounded like with all the headphones I used. Things like headphone pairings will produce different results and impressions vs what my ears hear on my specific gear. Cleaner, faster, more tight and punchier bass, greater dynamics while treble is a bit more extended and resolving yet smooth and not bright.
