About this deal

I’m not even pissed at the rumormongers. I’m pissed at whoever invented the Internet and handed the assholes in the world a platform on which to spew their venom.” I've known Logan a long time." Lukov winks at the camera. "And by a long time, I mean five whole minutes, but what is time, really? From what I can tell, he's a good guy. Easy on the eyes. Rumor has it he's a total bruiser on the ice. That's all I really need to know to give him my endorsement. So go out with him, sweetheart. My name is Shane Lukov and I approve this message." One day, Logan walks into Grace’s room by accident and the 2 hit it off. He leaves very abruptly after he orgasms and she tells him he gets there… but she doesn’t.

I need you. I can’t stand the thought of being without you.” He releases a shaky breath. “You’re the last person I think about before I go to sleep, and the first person I think about when I open my eyes in the morning. You’re it for me, baby.” So yeah, it’s better if I simply smile and nod and toss out the occasional “oh really?” so they know I’m not a mute. Except sometimes that’s not possible, especially when the cute guy in question says something that requires an actual answer. One of the biggest issues I had with this book was the way the author portrayed college life and the character stupidity that resulted because of such a shallow, inaccurate, and offensive portrayal. How this situation was handled really frustrated me, especially given how the author tried to handle other sensitive topics with care but completely ignored this. Imagine if the roles were reversed- and it was Logan who yelled at Grace when she was breaking down? No one would tolerate that. Why is this okay? Why would I? Seriously, what guy turns down Die Hard? The only thing that could sweeten this deal is if you offered me some booze.” Technically I am old enough to be Logan's grandmother!! I just googled "youngest" mother in the world ... OK, will take some of those entries on Wikipedia with a grain of salt. I really enjoyed the first book in this series. Grace is a freshman at the University and is the daughter of a professor. She is a virgin and it’s a big deal.

The Deal would have been perfect without that little thing in the end.....you know, the thing. The thing wasn't really in this one! I don't like the thing. logan gave me second hand embarrassment when he asked grace if she came 10% in and girly said “uh-huh, of course” The two meet by chance one night and become fast friends. Logan is looking for a distraction to take his mind off of his best friend's girlfriend that he's been secretly pining over. Before he knows it, his feelings for Grace have completely superseded whatever misplaced feelings he attached to his best friend's girlfriend.

This is one of two really fantastic New Adult books releasing in a two week span (the other is The Friend Zone by Kristen Callihan, reviewed for DA by Kaetrin). If you’ve been waiting to try New Adult, and weren’t sure whether you’d like it, I’d highly recommend starting with The Mistake — it stands alone very well, no need to read book 1, though you’ll want to. The Mistake has wonderful characterization without the angst that seems to be so typical of NA romance these days, it features snappy dialogue and really hot love scenes. I loved this book, and I think you will too. Final grade: A. Much like The Deal, The Mistake's biggest strengths are its likable and relatable characters. John Logan and Grace Ivers may be your typical college-age kids but they both have goals, ambitions and life outside "finding the one". I liked that they act like college kids and their struggles and issues fit within that age range. These characters worry about school, they worry about their prospects after college, they worry about their future, etc.
