Sometimes it is inevitable - you can't escape certain trailers. So while I still managed not to see everything the trailer revealed, I already knew from the looks of it, that I would like the movie. At our AMC-like theater there were a few other audience members far enough from us that we could cut up and converse, much like renting the theater for ourselves. Some solid scenes of repartee reminiscent of screwball comedies added to the pleasure of the island scenery and robust chases along with our not-always witty declamations. This episode is produced in Season 3. Although it's an aired Season 2 episode, it clearly uses Season 3 concepts. Some of them in this episode are firsts. However, it did open with the Seasons 1-2 opening sequence when it first premiered on TV, and when it aired on TV until October 6, 2003 when Star Catcher premiered. After that, it permanently uses the Seasons 3-4 intro due to all other star-catching episodes using that intro. The first half of this movie is really funny. I was laughing more than most in the theater. There are so many well-written jokes and situational humor with about an 80% hit rate, including a few hilarious moments. The characters are fleshed out enough for me to care. The story is formulaic and relatively weak compared to the other aspects, but that's easily forgiven when it's making me laugh.

Swiper is on his good side in this episode's 5th appearance without any swiping, because he's sad and disappointed that he lost his glove. He also feels bad for Dora for losing her teddy bear and hopes she finds it. Channing Tatum's character was extremely annoying to watch. The bumbling fool who makes more trouble while trying to help becomes more annoying each time he's on screen. The second is Channing Tatum, once more sending up his hunk status, and he does so with a performance which is emotionally sincere is it is comedic. These two sell the evolution of their relationship very well.After Map explains to the viewer about how to get to the Lost City and mentions about star catching, he does not say "So you tell Dora" like all other season 2 episodes, he instead says "so remember". However, he also says that in Whose Birthday is It?. The other 25 episodes of Season 2 have him saying "So you tell Dora". Aside from the credits of the previous episode Whose Birthday is It?, this is the first episode where Phillip Miller voices Azul the Blue Train. Although this is a Season 2 episode, it featured the Seasons 3-4 opening sequence with the explorer stars, Diego, and Baby Jaguar instead of the Seasons 1-2 opening sequence with the two doors opening themselves entering a playroom. (the opening error also occurs with Whose Birthday is It? and the DVD version of Super Spies). Enraged, Fairfax seals Loretta and Alan inside the tomb as the volcano erupts. Rafi, one of Fairfax's henchmen, having a change of heart due to Fairfax's cruelty to him, surreptitiously leaves a crowbar inside the tomb to help the pair escape. He then takes the boat, and abandons Fairfax on the island. Beth arrives with the local coast guard who rescue Loretta and Alan, and arrest Fairfax. Some time later, Loretta's next book, based on her adventure with Alan, is a success, and they share a kiss on the beach at the end of the book tour.

Nice special effects, it looks great, I loved the locations used. You can argue it had a somewhat old fashioned, maybe old school vibe about it, but sometimes you just need a bit of silliness in your life.
