About this deal

I hope I’ve interested you enough that you will run and get this book as soon as it’s published, it’s that good! I wasn't a huge fan of the artwork; sometimes pretty, sometimes amazingly ugly. The storyline and characters were what blew me away. This has some sad parts, for example, all of the roadkill, but it does have a "circle of life" type of vibe to it. The magic system wasn't really explained, for example, who has it and is it a skill that anyone can develop or only those who have the ability can develop if they try? No clue. Yeah- yeah.... I know how did they not get caught by social services- and support themselves to boot?

EXCERPT: 'To my Daughter on your Special Day'. Her mother chose the worst cards. A week after her birthday she had bundled it up with all her others and put them in a drawer in the spare room. Belinda Bauer is one of the very few really original crime writers of our time . . . The plot is neat and clever, but it is not the stories, the style or the characters alone - though all are good - that set Bauer's work apart. It is an indefinable extra ingredient that makes some books stand out from the crowd. This is one of them. Literary Review I introduce the SNAP gene finder which has been designed to be easily adaptable to a variety of genomes. In novel genomes without an appropriate gene finder, I demonstrate that employing a foreign gene finder can produce highly inaccurate results, and that the most compatible parameters may not come from the nearest phylogenetic neighbor. I find that foreign gene finders are more usefully employed to bootstrap parameter estimation and that the resulting parameters can be highly accurate. Conclusion

She has no idea where it came from and she makes a “snap” decision not to tell her husband about this which ends up almost costing her everything! Vibrant colors bring a lovable cast and more than a few spells to life." — School Library Journal, fron their Best Books of 2020 list A rather dark crime novel with some memorable characters and a burglar who likes to nap.....BUT someone will Snap!

MY THOUGHTS: Bauer has a way of sneaking up on you. She doesn't rely on twists and turns to keep the reader interested. She gets inside the heads and hearts of her characters to provide a rich, deep and often humorous viewpoint. Every book is better than the last and this one was truly extraordinary. While on the surface a psychological thriller, it really is so much more. Bauer writes her characters with such nuanced perfection that the reader experiences numerous reactions to them all. I don’t want to give any spoilers away but I will be recommending this book to everyone, whether they like thrillers or not.” —Linda Quinn, Fairfield Public LibraryThe emotional rollercoaster that Belinda Bauer sets us on is a large part of what makes this novel such a treasure. The mysteries (and yes, there are several), kept me tapping my screen to find out how one thread would unravel, only to find hidden threads within the mess of fabric. Onward. Ever onward, no matter how hopeless things might appear. There was something so lively and bright about Snapdragon. The colouring and art had an almost whimsical feel. Coupled with the brilliant characterisation, Snapdragon was truly a masterclass in what makes a good graphic novel work. This was pure joy. The opening of Snap is one of the most vividly unnerving I have read . . . razor-sharp observation. Guardian Families can talk about coping with the loss of a loved one.
