There is no noticeable imbalance problem in sound level difference, indicating that the quality control of EA500 is excellent. The symmetric frequency response of left and right ears brings a very solid center imaging. The Olina SE are a league or two ahead in sonic fidelity, with a more expansive soundstage, superior micro-details, imaging, and instrument separation. In keeping with a somewhat Harman-like signature, the Olina SE’s tonality is also more pleasant than the Star River’s harsh and unrefined V-shaped profile. Treble Overall, EA500 is solid in materials, has restrained tuning, and provides the option of changing nozzles. With a not-so-high price point, it can be a great choice for users who want a high price-to-quality ratio. Note weight is on the thinner side, and timbre has a metallic sheen in the higher frequencies, especially when acoustic instruments come out to play. The timbre is even more artificial when the red/blue switches (second tuning profile) are utilized, so timbre is not a strong point for the Star River. The Simgot EA500’s midrange is a standout feature of its sound signature. The lower mids are rich and full-bodied, thanks in part to the abundance of mid and upper bass. Vocals are slightly forward in the mix, which gives them a natural presence that never feels artificial or overemphasized. A Zobel network circuit – only available in the tunable model of the D-Fi – is installed to nullify the effects of inductance and capacitance via a hub of resistor-capacitor networks. One unfortunate aspect I noticed right out of the gate was the number of scratches that “adorned” the faceplate. Mirror finishes are prone to such imperfections, so there is that. Technical chops are better on the EA500 – they have improved instrument separation, micro-detailing, and clarity. Imaging is, however, superior on the Star River. The Simgot EA500 boasts an engaging, punchy bass that is boosted slightly above neutral. It’s well-defined and full-bodied, never intruding or smothering the mids and highs. The sub-bass and mid-bass are balanced linearly, resulting in a natural weight and effortless transition between the two.

Just be careful with the volume settings and make sure previous volume levels from the models you used before the EA500 are not set to active.
