About this deal

The style is very odd, because he writes about himself in the third person –“And Norman walked out onto the balcony.” And you think, but wait a minute, you ARE Norman! I'm sure! Hang on! Sindhu says: It's a book about a woman who discovers her mother's extremely colourful, and quite scary and horrifying, past - after her mother has died. The mother has left her a gun, and that's just the start of the story. This was an enjoyable and warm novel about the lives of 4 different women who all live on an estate and attend a pottery class. I loved the way the women formed friendships and supported each other although they were very different. The plot centres around the lives of 4 women at various stages of life and the ups and downs they experience. They meet, united by the gorgeous pottery teacher, Sasha, at a new pottery course at the community centre. The inhabitants of the Inventor's Housing Estate keep themselves to themselves. But the neighbours come together to try out a new skill, under the watchful eye of their charismatic teacher, Sasha. Concealed heartaches and passions are uncovered, relationships shattered and formed and the possibility for transformation is revealed.

Help us complete the largest ever survey of English novels On 29 October 2018, it was announced that Cox would succeed Simon Mayo as drivetime presenter on 14 January 2019. [18]The story was getting increasingly ridiculous and was really resembling a soap opera more than a well-written novel, so that's why I've decided to finish off here. I won't leave a star review, because it doesn't seem right if I haven't even read to the end. I think this book was pretty much what I expected from Sara Cox - light hearted, humorous (but not lol) and easy to whizz through. However, it was also vacuous. The characters were boring and the plot predictable and although I’m sure some will enjoy the simple escapism and sweet story of women becoming friends through their pottery class, there just wasn’t enough to capture my attention. Sara Cox has used her experience presenting The Pottery Throw Down to produce this great book about a group of strangers brought together by a pottery class at their local community centre.

In series four Sara Cox talks to the guests about their favourite books as well as a new release and a ‘Big Jubilee Read’. Each week Sara and the celebrity guests discussed a new book release. This year, as the UK hosted the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 on behalf of Ukraine, each episode also featured a novel set in a Eurovision country. Between The Covers Books List Series 6 – Book List New Releases If like me (and I imagine, Sara) you love The Great Pottery Throwdown then you will definitely enjoy this book. A nice easy read I finished it in two sittings on the same day. All the characters male and female had depth and realism and I felt emotionally invested in their storylines. The metaphor of pottery is perfect for Thrown. Not only do many characters find themselves thrown by events, but they themselves are like the items made in the community centre. Some are more perfect than others. Many have flaws. Some are broken and every single person is unique. What I found so successful too, is the fact that at the end of the book, not every single plot element is resolved; just like real life not everyone gets a happy ending or knows exactly what will happen next. On 23 June 2013, Cox tweeted a picture to announce she had just married her long-term boyfriend and fiancé Ben Cyzer. [40] Advocacy [ edit ]My only sight criticism is it was a little predictable at times but it was such a fun read I didn’t mind that too much. Hendry, Steve (29 September 2013). Moore, Matthew (11 January 2018). "Women take over top shows in Radio 2 revamp". The Times . Retrieved 3 January 2022.However I didn’t feel as engrossed in this book as I’d hoped. I hate rating autobiographies as it feels incredibly personal to give a review to, but this book was just ok. On 5 March 2019, it was announced that Cox would host a new ITV show, entitled The Sara Cox Show, which would feature entertainment, live music and celebrity guests and which would air on Saturday and Sunday mornings. [32] I grew up half on my dad’s farm but half on a little council estate nearby. I liked the cosiness and wanted to reflect that. I could also picture the layout in my mind – the community centre, the little doctors… Giovanna is searching for a new face in two kindred cities that fear and detest one another: the Naples of the heights, which assumes a mask of refinement, and the Naples of the depths, which professes to be a place of excess and vulgarity. She moves between these two cities, disoriented by the fact that, whether high or low, the city seems to offer no answer and no escape. A transfer to radio came on 19 September 1999 when she joined BBC Radio 1. She launched the hugely popular The Surgery with Mark Hamilton, where Cox acted as "Nurse Coxy". She also co-hosted the Saturday lunchtime show with Emma B from 13:00 – 15:00

Cox commentated for the semi-finals of the Eurovision Song Contest on BBC Three with fellow BBC Radio 1 DJ Scott Mills [23] at the 2011 Contest and 2012 Contest, and again in 2021 as a late stand-in for Rylan Clark. [24] Cox was replaced by Ana Matronic starting from the 2013 Contest. [25] The inhabitants of the Inventor's Housing Estate keep themselves to themselves. There are the friendly 'Hellos' when commutes coincide and the odd cheeky eye roll when the wine bottles clank in number 7's wheelie bin, but it's not exactly Ramsay Street. Hosted by the lovely Sara Cox, Between the Covers is shown on Tuesday nights on BBC2 and the episodes can also be found on BBC iPlayer. I would definitely recommend this as a lovely light hearted read and am looking forward to reading more from the author in the future.United Kingdom: Ana Matronic replaces Sara Cox". I’m not really good with my own thoughts in a quiet room – I don’t know if it’s something I should be worried about. When I’m doing mundane things, I just want a little chat going on in my ear. Likable, largely middle-class men in their 50s are my thing at the moment. I’ve got Louis Theroux, Adam Buxton, David Mitchell and not remotely middle-class Bob Mortimer, whose And Away autobiography is great.
