About this deal

Contagrip MA is built for the widest variety of surfaces. It balances both the geometry and the rubber compound to deliver confidence on wet, dry, hard or loose surfaces, and offer long-term durability. Great shoe for allround use I already have my third pair going. Perfectly suitable for all kind of running from after work running with my dog to the long ultra races on all kind of terrains.

The Sense Ride 4 immediately delivers a responsive ride with the right amount of cushioning and Optivibe™ foam, without feeling too spongy or too bare. This cushioning is essential for speedy runs as you don't want to feel awkward on your feet. The Optivibe Foam also allows the shoe to absorb vibrations and decrease muscle fatigue without your feet having to take the impact while staying lightweight. Salomon Sense Ride 3 ( RTR Review ): The SR4 is lighter and has a more refined and breathable upper. It is worth the upgrade if your SR3 has worn out. After getting accustomed to the narrower fit of this shoe, it felt snug and stabilizing and inspired confidence by keeping my foot in place. Jeff runs mostly on very steep technical terrain above Boulder often challenging well known local FKT's.

One shoe to rule them all, claims one happy reviewer. I agree; why buy multiple trail runners when you can buy one that does it all. So look no further for the perfect all-rounder. The Sense Ride 4 (SR4), upgraded from the Sense Ride 3 (SR3), is entirely beginner trail-runner friendly. Heel drop is the measurement in mm of the difference between the height of the heel and the toe of the sole.

That’s the one thing this shoe is missing. Since the lacing structure doesn’t allow you to fully unlace and open up the shoe, a pull tab would really help. Please add this to the 5, Salomon. Conclusion While I love the fast feeling of a larger drop shoe on the trail, the responsiveness delivered by the Optivibe midsole compensates with noticeable energy return. If you’re looking for a competent shoe in rougher terrain, the Salomon Sense Ride 4 is an excellent choice.

Performance Comparison

In creating the Salomon Sense Ride 4, the company made a number of almost imperceptible tweaks to make this latest version much more versatile and closer to an all-around shoe, but still happiest in the mountains. The men’s advertised shoe weight is 10.2 ounces, while the women’s is 8.3 ounces. While the EVA cushioning adds to the clunk factor of this shoe, the 8mm of drop keeps runners who strike with the forefoot feeling pretty connected to the terrain. There's a ton of padding in the heel, so heel strikers will be in their element when charging downhill. SensiFit: SensiFit cradles the foot from the midsole to the lacing system, providing a secure, snug, and virtually customized fit all around the foot. Sam did such a great job describing the midsole for the Sense Ride 3 ( RTR Review ), I feel inclined to copy his description below: These shoes felt incredibly responsive for a trail shoe, which would make it great for a trail race and any training runs. The 4mm drop offers a balance of stability and precision.
