About this deal

The lower midrange is moderately highlighted when I listen to male vocals or to instruments such like a viola or guitar. The upper midrange is the focal point of the Moondrop Aria Snow Edition that is produced with a decent sense of clarity and resolution when I do listen to instruments like a violin, piano or flute or to female voices like Adel or Aretha Franklin. I didn’t notice any remarkable sibilance or harshness, which is another remarkable highlight of the Aria Snow Edition. So Moondrop sells two types of ear tips with three sizes each for all their IEMs. The first type has a smaller core diameter (41mm) to fit the single DD IEMs, such as the Starfield and the KXXS, along with the SSP/SSR. The second type has a larger core diameter (55mm) which fits the hybrids/multi-BA IEMs, such as the Blessing 2, Solis, A8/S8. The Aria snow edition comes in a beautifully adorned winter themed box. Inside is the Aira, a white case, tips, and a much improved cable.

The metal shell was made with a metal injection molding and CNC carving process However, the main difference is the Moondrop’s new DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) diaphragm dual-cavity dynamic driver that replaced the 10mm diameter LCP (Liquid Crystal Polymer) diaphragm that was used inside the Aria 2021. Moondrop generally tunes their IEMs to their in-house sound signature, the virtual diffuse sound field (VDSF), which is an amalgam between diffuse field and Harman tuning. The lower treble region of the Aria Snow Edition is more highlighted and detailed compared to the upper treble register. The lower treble range shows an audible roll-off after the 6 kHz region that is tuned in a controlled manner. The presence of this area creates an efficient sense of clarity while listen to percussions, flutes or pianos. I do not experience driver flex, but this may depend on the ear tips used and your ear anatomy. Internals In terms of soundstage and imaging,OH2 has a more in your head kind of soundstage whereas Aria Snow Edition is slightly out of your head,in terms of imaging capability, both are more or less on parThere are high expectations with the Moondrop Aria Snow Edition, given the worldwide success of the original. Many thought this would be an exact refresh with identical tuning and improved overall aesthetics. However, although this is an update it is not a 1:1 copy of the original Aria in terms of tuning. Next, if you go from 300 Hz up to 1000 kHz, this is known as the Lower Midrange, and this is a crucial region for Cable: 2-wire twist braid in a cloth sheathing. Fairly pliable though retains a bit of kinking. No complaints beyond that.

On the top of the monitor shell is the recessed 0.78mm diameter 2-Pin female connector that offers a tight and secure fit to the male connectors. The build quality of the housing looks of high quality and fulfills my expectations from a product in this price category. it is similar to Ola when it comes to midrange and treble region where instruments and vocals are portrayed cleanly. It doesn’t have to be forward but I prefer it not to be recessed. Tripowin Olina – very good technically, great soundstage, imaging, micro-details and instrument separation. However, it can be a bit fatiguing for those who are treble sensitive due to a boost at the lower treble region. The Moondrop Aria SE is different but similar, maybe tuned just more towards my liking, the bass is a little less powerful but more detailed overall. The midrange on the Aria Snow is not recessed but not too forward as well. It sits comfortably in the space without being too shouty or near the face. The midrange of the Ikko OH2 sounds slightly more forward and a bit brighter in tonality, when compared to the Moondrop Aria Snow Edition that shows a tad warmer and fuller overall midrange character. The upper midrange of the Aria Snow Edition has a bit more dynamism and resolution, while the difference is very minimal but audible to my ears. The soundstage is definitely wider in the Aria Snow. Although the Aria has more depth, it does not quite compare with the width of the revised edition. Imaging is fairly accurate on both monitors.

The first thing that comes to my mind looking at the gorgeous Moondrop Aria SE is Game of Thrones reference : Winter is coming. It is just simply well designed and is one of the most beautiful looking IEMs at this price point. It is eye catching! Fit is just perfect. Owing to the perfect fit, it is comfortable to wear for longer durations. I have worn them for 9 hours straight on day and didn't feel any irritation or pain in my ears. But, fit is going to vary depending on the individual. The white metal body of the Aria SE stays 3-4°C below the surrounding temperature and gives a cool/relaxed feeling to my ears which gets hot quite a lot. The passive noise isolation with the spring tips is really good. The cable has a transparent insulator, showing the silver braided cable. The insulator also helps in reducing tangles when stowing it away. No unusual microphonics were observed when moving around. Plus, there is a chin-slider you may opt to keep the cable in place. There are no left/right markings on the housings. While IEM addicts will be able to identify the respective sides with their eyes closed, those new to over-ear IEMs might have difficulty. As mentioned previously, there is a red band over the right cable terminal so that one can use this as a marker for the right shell housing. Isolation on the Snow Edition is average, they have 2 vents on each housing after all. The Snow Edition are usable outdoors, though don’t be expecting top-notch isolation on the level of unvented BA sets or customs. Comfort Mids: Are neutral and sound organic and have a good timbre but are a little on the lean side. Vocals are placed well and have good body and emotion. Every time you reach for earphone/IEM cables to connect them to your earphones/IEM, no matter how neatly you "wrapped" them up, they end up in a giant Gordian knot of frustration. Tangled cables are the bane of modern existence, and everyone owning a wired pair of earphones/IEM can attest to this. The upper treble region is less energetic and detailed, while it offers a sufficient grade of extension when I do listen to instruments such like hi-hats or cymbals. The sense of airiness and sparkle that is produced in this area is on a moderate level.

The Moondrop Aria Snow Edition came inside a rectangular box in white color with a nice Snowflake motive on the top, which was wrapped with a stylish cardboard with the Snow Edition theme on its surface. The Heart Mirror are colder and more sterile. In fact, they are more befitting of a winter theme than the Snow Edition! Horses for courses, some folk prioritize technicalities, while some pursue timbre and tonality in a pair of IEMs. The Snow Edition nicely fall like snowflakes for those searching for something in the latter category. Where to BuyAfter the Sub-Bass region, we get into the region known as the Bass or Mid-Bass. This region consists of With an impedance of 32Ω, the Aria Snow is not difficult to drive with smartphones are enough to power it at decent volumes. Pairing with dedicated audio players such as the Hidizs AP80 Pro-X enhances its overall imaging and soundstage performance so it can scale.
