About this deal

The NV2 is not intended to make full use of this bandwidth, but it is often a small step ahead of DRAM-less Gen3 alternatives such as the Samsung 980 (non-PRO) and WD Blue SN550 and also the DRAM-equipped FireCuda 510 in terms of read performance. CrystalDiskMark

PCMark 10 includes a subset of tests to determine an “app start-up score” to be weighed into the total. We make use of the “cold start” times that measures loading times from disk. In these apps, the NV2 continues to impress with startup times that surpass the Gen3 SSDs in every test. We use “Kingston” to refer to our trading companies based in the United Kingdom, and their legal successors. Their registered names and principal activities/product groups are listed below: Find out if the Kingston NV2 1 TB M.2 SSD (model SNV2S/1000G) is suitable for gaming based on read/write speed and other factors. Also, learn how SSDs like this one can enhance your gaming experience. Temperature is measured in degree Celcius (ºC) at system idle and load. This is done via AIDA64 Extreme and its System Stability Test. As an avid gamer with extensive experience building and upgrading gaming PCs, I always prioritize maximizing overall speed. In my experience, using an SSD in a PC, laptop, or gaming console can significantly improve performance. In this article, I discuss the Kingston NV2 1 TB (model SNV2S/ 1000G) and evaluate its impact on gaming and overall SSD performance.Being an entry-level SSD, the Kingston NV2 range was launched in September 2022, with only a brief press release and little fanfare. This is in stark contrast to most high-end NVMe SSD releases, but not surprising considering the NV2’s budget nature. It uses Phison’s new PS5021-E21 controller with four flash channels, designed for DRAM-less operation, along with what we believe are TLC NAND memory chips (more on this later). The first half of the module size is the width of the M.2 SSD and the second half is the length. The NV2 1 TB has a module size of 2280 which means it is 22 mm wide and 80 mm long. In spite of its unimpressive sequential throughput, Intel’s now-retired Optane SSD lineup remains among the best ever in terms of real-world performance. One of the key reasons was their very low latency – a hugely important factor for user experience. The entry-level Kingston drive outperforms most Gen3 SSDs here, which is good news. Loading Times (PCMark 10, FF XIV) The Kingston NV2 comes with the usual stuff that most NVMe SSDs have right out of the box: SMART, TRIM, etc. Aside from those standard features, the NV2 also comes with an endurance of 640 TBW, topped with a 1,500,000 Hours MTBF.

As you can see from the benchmark result screens we were able to confirm Kingston's official figures for the 1TB NV2 of up to 3,500MB/s for reads and up to 2,100MB/s for writes with test results of 3,672MB/s for reads and 2,621MB/s for writes.Compared to the budget competitors, the Kingston NV2 does similarly well in CrystalDiskMark. Although there is certainly nothing spectacular about these numbers, we see the NV2 consistently outpacing Gen3 drives as far as sequential read performance goes. Delivers read/write speeds of up to 3,500/2,800MB/s for an overall faster system. Ideal for systems with limited space. From my experience, an SSD like the Kingston NV2 2 TB can significantly improve performance compared to a hard drive. The Kingston NV2 does reasonably well with Final Fantasy XIV Endwalker Official Benchmark sitting mid-table for all of the scene load results charts.

Kingston doesn't list any 4K random performance figures on the specification sheet for the drive, but the fastest we saw came from when the drive was tested with the Peak Performance profile of CrystalDiskMark 8. The fastest read figure, 201,561 IOPS, came from when the drive was using compressible data while the fastest write performance, 401,239 IOPS, came when the drive was being tested with incompressible data.

Access and Loading Time

We are in the process of adding the 3DMark Storage Benchmark to our routine, as it’s another useful tool for gauging real-world performance as it relates to gaming. It consists of loading three different games, as well as recording, installing saving, and moving game data. In this benchmark, the overall picture is somewhat moderated compared to the previous results. The SN850 is clearly the most responsive SSD in this context out of our admittedly tiny sample size. Conclusion: Great value at current price point Copying the Steam folder for Counter-Strike®: Global Offensive from an external SSD to the system drive. To get a measure of how much faster PCIe NVMe drives are than standard SATA SSD we use the same files but transfer to and from a 2TB Kioxia Exceria Plus drive: Garantáljuk, hogy nincsenek rejtett költségek. Price and use case scenario dictates why it is such a bland looking product. Now since this is a PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD, I am interested to see the thermals. Test Setup and Methodology

The NV2 sits in the bottom half of the results chart at QDs 1 and 2 but by the time it gets to QD4 and beyond it's sitting firmly at the base of the charts. Nem mindig a legolcsóbb ajánlat a legjobb, az ár mellett kiemelten fontosnak tartjuk a minőségi szempontokat is, a vásárlók elégedettségét, ezért előre soroltunk Önnek 3 ajánlatot az alábbi szempontok szerint: Having a dedicated workspace, setting priorities and eliminating distractions are just a few ways to increase productivity from home. With a read score of 1106 in ASSSD, the 1TB NV2 sits firmly in last place in our results chart. Its write score is significantly faster at 2042. Some of the listed capacity on a Flash storage device is used for formatting and other functions and thus is not available for data storage. As such, the actual available capacity for data storage is less than what is listed on the products. For more information, go to Kingston's Flash Memory Guide. Using the Peak Performance profile in CrystalDiskMark 8 we could once again confirm the maximum official figures with the best read/write results of 3,668MB/s and 2,581MB/s respectively. Although it is quite far from utilizing the full bandwidth of the PCIe Gen4 interface, that’s not the point of the DRAM-less and value-oriented Kingston NV2. What it does manage to do is perform largely on par with more expensive and formerly high-end SSDs from the previous generation, using the newer interface and comparatively low-end configuration.
