About this deal

Use the story as the starting point for learning about sound and volume. How do we measure the loudness of different sounds? Could you measure the volume of different noises and use them for some data-handling activities? And you know what? The Big-Hearted elephant with Ears of a matching size (ears so acute and friendly they can detect a whole beleaguered Microdot Civilisation of Who's) still delights us and the little kids around us who may be hearing his story for the very first time. Horton hears a faint noise on a clover plant. He realizes that there are very small people living on the clover that need help, and he tries to place the clover in a safe spot. The jungle animals do not believe his story about the tiny people. Thinking Horton is a fool, they steal the clover and hide it far away. Will Horton be able to help the people in Whoville? Can the animals be convinced? Condition: Gut. UK Import. Gebrauchs- und Lagerspuren. Außen: Markierungen oder Aufkleber auf der Hülle. 41382338/3 Blu-Ray, Maße: 17.2 cm x 13.5 cm x 1.3 cm. Horton finds the Whos on the three millionth clovers. Can you make up some Maths problems that include the number 3,000,000?

At first Seuss called the book ‘Horton Hears ‘Em’ before changing it. The new title suggests the importance of the Whos in the story. Whoville appeared again three years later in How the Grinch Stole Christmas! and then a third time in the 1977 TV special Halloween is Grinch Night. 9. Dr. Seuss worked through Christmas to finish the book. This shows the importance of individuality and the significance of life. It is all about respect, understanding and acceptance. Horton Hears a Who! is written in anapestic tetrameter, like many other Dr. Seuss books. [10] Unlike some of his books, however, Horton contains a strong moral message—"a person's a person, no matter how small"—which Thomas Fensch identifies as "universal, multinational, multi-ethnic. In a word: Equality". [11] In Grinch Night, the Whos were designed to look more human than in other appearances, with the exception of their hair (for most of the Whos). They also wear robes with a button on their chests, instead of having their signature colorful fur on their bodies, and they have regular human noses instead of their signature snouts. One Who, Sergeant Samuel McPherson also appears to look almost entirely human in his design, as his hair is hidden by his helmet.

I was first introduced to the story of Horton Hears a Who last year in an apologetics class. Since then I haven't been able to get enough of it. When I found out they were making a movie from the book I was completely thrilled! It didn't even matter if they messed it up, even though I knew they wouldn't, so long as they were making a movie of it!

Fensch, Thomas (2001). The Man Who Was Dr. Seuss. Woodlands: New Century Books. ISBN 0-930751-11-6. Since he was behind schedule, Seuss had to cancel plans to go to Yosemite over the holidays and worked straight through Christmas. In January, the book was done. According to his biographers, Dr. Seuss sat down in the offices of Random House in New York and read Horton Hears A Who! aloud to his editors. It was met with enthusiastic applause. 10. There was also a ‘Horton Hears A Who!’ TV special. The Whos are finally heard. Is hearing believing? Do you have to hear, or see, or feel something to believe it or know it’s true? In 1936 on the way to a vaction in Europe, listening to the rhythm of the ship's engines, he came up with And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street, which was then promptly rejected by the first 43 publishers he showed it to. Eventually in 1937 a friend published the book for him, and it went on to at least moderate success. This charming tale stands up and becomes a relevant reading for everybody to understand the respect to any kind of life,...Identify the different types of punctuation used in the story. Which is the most common? Which is the least common? Why? Now a major film, Horton Hears a Who! is a hilarious picture book in verse from the world-famous Dr Seuss. Horton is an elephant who takes his responsibilities of caring for smaller people very seriously. Reading this book together with your child will reinforce the need to care for other people and encourage less confident children to believe that it's okay to speak up for themselves. How do you know if somebody knows what you know? Just because you think you know something, does that mean others know it too and agree with you?

I like the overall story and it is interesting, but if you have kids sensitive to movies then this is a definite "too scary" one. Horton, the elephant, appears again (he was introduced to the world in Horton Hatches the Egg), which is one of the most famous characters of Dr. Seuss.
